Some series are too short, they don’t explore all the potential their universe can offer and finally, they just waste all the possibilities of a good plot. But the opposite is possible too: we all know one series that is too long which disappointed us until the very end because everything was wasted by the scenario and his longevity. But what is the problem with this series that have lasted too long?
There are different kinds of “lasted too long”: the intrigue is too used, the plot was extended too much in order to realize a maximum of seasons for profit, the intrigues are repetitive and never afford anything … In this article, we will explain and analyze the reasons why some TV shows are too long.

First, some series are released and become an international success story: Riverdale or La Casa de Papel for example. That success is explained by the originality of the plot or the importance of the messages transmitted through the show, as in 13 reasons why. But these series are a good example because they were a huge buzz that the creators used and overexploited. Indeed, creating new seasons for a show must involve a general coherence with the original plot but neither being repetitive. And here is the issue: the show listed upper has one or combined all these difficulties. For example, the Riverdale’s recents seasons don’t match with the previous seasons, so that the viewer is lost and fed up.

But the intrigue can also be the main problem of a too long series: Pretty Little Liars is a good example of a too long plot, that becomes annoying and the atmosphere you liked so much at the beginning happens to irritate you. A second big mistake, such as Glee did, is the terrible big change of the casting in the middle of the seasons. The departure of the actors caused a big change for the viewers which wasn’t appreciated. Here is the question: should the show continue without the original casting or stop the series ? For the redactors of Zie Plot, having more than 3 actors leaving the show at the same time should be a good reason to stop it. Elite is a good example for that: 3 of the mains characters, and the most appreciated, are leaving the show. The fans are uncertain about the quality of the show without Lucrecia, Carla and Nadia … Season 4 is being produced, we will see if it’s worth it!

To finish, the last problem of some series is their longevity. The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, the french show Plus Belle la Vie … These series have more than 20 years, are still being produced and consequently have no interesting intrigues because everything has already been done. And, honestly, who knows perfectly everything of the 12 000 episodes of the Young and the Restless?
To conclude, the end of a show is just as important as the beginning. The most memorable and interesting series are the ones that are breathtaking from A to Z. The ones where the intrigue takes you every minute, that stays in your mind. Of course, the series mentioned above are not bad, we even enjoyed them, but we keep bitter memories of our disappointment.
What is a cult series?
We often hear the term «cult series». Even too often ... And in the end, nobody really knows what it is. The ZiePlot team is here to set the record straight. In the collective spirit, it’s a favourite series, unique to each and every one of us, that you can’t get tired of and that you watch at the first slack moment. But a cult series is actually a series that brings something new to the genre to which it belongs. In a way, they are shows that completely revolutionise their genres. They are also characterised by the fact that years later they are still being shown on television and still attract a lot of fans. Some cult series also serve as a significant reference for certain people. Cult status, therefore, is only acquired after several years of a great and prolonged success. Not to speak only of sitcoms, we can also take the
Take the example of Friends. Everyone has already seen at least one episode of this series by zapping or has heard about it. A short summary of the synopsis, even if it is probably not necessary : the series follows the adventures of 6 friends Chandler, Monica, Joey, Phoebe, Rachel & Ross. Love, family, work and friendship punctuate their New York lives. Over the course of these 10 seasons, the series has completely revolutionized the sitcom genre. What is part of the success of Friends is that everyone can identify with a character. Indeed, the series doesn’t feature one person as the main character but a bunch of friends. This allows viewers to identify with them in different situations. Friends is the perfect Friends is THE series that set the trend for comedy series centred on bands of friends. It gave birth to many sitcoms based on the same pattern and characteristics that made the series a success. Among these shows, we can recognize How I Met Your Mother , New Girl or The Big Bang Theory. How I Met Your Mother is the perfect example: it’s the story of a bunch of friends living in a big city, whose love life, work and daily life are followed ... and who always find themselves in their favourite place. Unlike Friends with the Central Perk, they meet in a bar. And contrary to Friends, How I Met Your Mother has a character that is more prominent than the others: Ted Mosby because he is the main plot.
bunch of friends you dream of belonging to. by Lou example of Urgences. Admittedly, it is not as well known as Friends or similar series such as Grey’s Anatomy and Dr House. This series is considered THE model for medical series. Originally, NBC was not enthusiastic about the project of Urgences and its subject matter was too complex with a medical vocabulary that was difficult to understand.Luckily they didn’t win, we wouldn’t have had Grey’s Anatomy and especially Dr. Shepherd!
To conclude, cult series such as Friends or Urgences have marked their genres in their own way. They are memorable and serve as a reference for both fans and other series.

POPCORN The Dothraki language, from Game of Thrones, was created especially for the series and contains no less than three thousand words. When you see how Emilia Clark has appropriated the language, you are stunned. She is indeed able to deliver entire speeches in this language in a very convincing way.
