Dear Members,

Welcome to May

As spring winds to a close and summer starts, we experience a busier golf tournament season, outdoor dining, and an increase in pool usage at the Club.

We have had some great recent events with the Easter Sunday Spectacular, Italian Family Night, and Hundred Acre Wine Dinner that have captured that true “Club spirit”; your positive feedback of the team’s efforts is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your continued engagement and support across all areas of the Club. As our busy season continues, we look forward to celebrating with you at our upcoming social and sporting events.

Family Night: Revenge of the Sixth – Wednesday, May 6th

Mother’s Day Brunch – Sunday, May 10th Memorial Day BBQ Celebration – Monday, May 25th CouplesTwilight Golf – Friday, May 29th

Enhancement projects remain a priority, including recent upgrades to the Birdie Bar andAbel’s Half-way Hut areas, as well as back-of-house projects such as the fitness air conditioning system, pool coping, and a new fitness wall unit and cabinetry. On the Golf Course we will soon see the start of a phased program to uplift our course furniture, with new golfer arrival, bag staging, and first tee starter areas. The previously communicated greenside bunker liner / new sand project is also in planning, and following anApril visit from course architect David McClay Kidd, approved to begin on July 6 . These enhancements are ongoing, as the team prides themselves on maintaining the highest levels of facilities, quality service, and events for our Members within the Club.

th

We appreciate your support of this staff team, and even more so now during the current challenges within the local labor market and hospitality industry. Rolling Hills is a special club because of our Members, staff, and the unique community created here together.

Some Housekeeping Reminders:

The beginning of the pool season is always an appropriate time to remind Members of Rolling Hills standards, whether in terms of sporting etiquette, dress code, or general behavior. RHCC will continue to be guided by the ambition of the Club to define ‘informal elegance’.

With this in mind, our dress standards lean towards “casual elegance” rather than formality; we kindly ask our Members to apply a degree of decorum between casual and inappropriate. This principle of comfortable – but smart – should allow our Members and their guests to determine that clothing such as ripped jeans, cropped tops, vests, and French-cut bikinis are not acceptable. We encourage smart dress only for Upper Level Dining.

RHCC is also a family club, with various age-appropriate spaces along with common areas that welcome multiple generations. To ensure all Members have an enjoyable experience, please remember you are responsible for the behavior of your children and grandchildren while at the Club. The use of both Men’s and Ladies Locker Rooms by children under 18 years must be supervised, and limited to bathroom and quick snack visits.

An important aspect of RHCC standards on the Golf Course relates to pitch mark repairs, and I have been a little shocked in my opening months here at the lack of care and help to the course maintenance team by repairing pitch marks. In May (and beyond), we kindly encourage you to repair your pitch mark + an additional one on every green, so we can continue to deliver exceptional playing conditions.

All of these important areas to uphold, as well as your respect for our staff and Club etiquette, are integral parts of what makes RHCC so special. On behalf of the entire team, thank you for your ongoing commitment to Rolling Hills, and we look forward to seeing you over the coming exciting months.

Kindest regards,

Benjamin, Kaitlyn Edgley, and Kelsea Short

&QQ: WHAT DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST SO FAR ABOUT RHCC?

A: What I enjoy most about RHCC is really the people. There’s such a great mix of Members, and I love seeing families here across multiple generations. The kids bring a lot of energy, and

there’s a genuine appreciation for good food. What stands out the most is how open everyone is to try new things; it makes it fun and rewarding for us to keep evolving and creating new experiences.

Q: WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION FOR YOUR MENU CREATIONS?

A: My biggest inspiration for menu creation comes from the flavors and cuisines I personally love and connect with. I enjoy bringing that passion to the plate, treating each dish as a blank canvas. I’m also deeply motivated by the opportunity to share and teach, whether it’s with our team in the kitchen or through the experiences we create for our members. I’m intentional about incorporating exceptional local ingredients, with a focus on sustainability and respect for the environment. For me, it’s about creating something genuine and memorable, an experience that engages all the senses while passing along knowledge and preserving these ingredients for future generations to enjoy.

Q: WHICH RHCC EVENT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO?

A: The RHCC event I look forward to the most is Mother’s Day, without a doubt. It’s a very personal one for me. I owe so much to my mother, she’s given and sacrificed a great deal throughout my life, and I’m incredibly grateful for the guidance and support she’s given me to pursue my passion for food. Being able to create a memorable experience for families on that day, and celebrate mothers in that way, means a lot to me.

Q: IF YOU COULD GIVE OUR MEMBERS ONE PIECE OF COOKING ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

A: If I could give our Members one piece of cooking advice, it would be to focus on patience and simplicity. Don’t over-season, let the ingredients speak for themselves. Take your time and handle each ingredient with care.Alot of effort goes into growing and sourcing the food we cook with, and respecting that process will always lead to better results on the plate.

April

Rewind

RHCC was the place to be this April! We kicked off the month with an Easter Brunch Celebration to remember – from the enchanting garden decorations (with moving flowers and butterflies) to the delectable food stations, adorable petting zoo, and three exciting helicopter egg drops, we’ll be raving about the fun we had for years to come.

We had a blast spending your Spring Breaks with you! The kids learned to bake, craft, and had some fun in the sun at our annual Spring Break Camp, and the whole family got to get together at our “Tastes of Tuscany”: the second installment of our new Family Night Series. There, everyone became chefs for the evening with a DIY Pizza Station, while our families enjoyed a delightful Italian Buffet and bouncy castle fun zone.

Our golfers brought their A-game this month with our Ladies Eclectic & Men’s Senior Club Championships, with 4 total days of competition & camaraderie. We capped off the month with a mouth-watering wine dinner hosted by Hundred Acre Wineries, where all Members who attended had the opportunity to skip the years-long waitlist to join their exclusive Wine Club.

Thank you for spending your April with us – check out all of the fun!

LADIES 2-DAY ECLECTIC

What a fantastic finish to our Eclectic Member-Member! Over the course of the event, we saw scores improve, putts drop, and plenty of great moments along the way exactly what eclectic is all about.

And speaking of improving… Alison Monahan & Gina Shoemaker put on an absolute clinic, finishing at an incredible 19-under net! Building off their already impressive opening round of 58 (-14), they found even more out there proof that every shot counts in an eclectic. Amazing playing, ladies!

2026 MEN’S SENIOR CLUB CHAMPION Ben Gutshall

Congratulations to Ben Gutshall on winning his first Senior Club Championship! It was no easy path, as he battled eight-time champion Phil Califano and a strong field of past champions.

Gutshall got off to a rocky start with a bogey on Hole 1 but bounced back with a birdie on 3 to get to even. Bogeys on 5, 6, and 9 dropped him to two-over, while Califano took control with a one-under front nine Kalani van Scoyoc was also in the mix early, sitting four-over through nine, improving to three-over after ten, and holding at four-over through fifteen before a costly double on 16 ended his charge

The back nine proved decisive Gutshall struggled with a triple on 10, falling five shots back, while Jon Schneider stayed steady and moved into contention. A birdie on 11 sparked Gutshall’s comeback, and the turning point came on 15 when he birdied while Califano made double, cutting the lead to one.

Gutshall took the lead on 16 as Califano made another double, then calmly finished with pars on 17 and 18 to secure a one-shot victory.

A great comeback and a well-earned championship congratulations again to Ben Gutshall.

DMK Golf Design

No matter how good the design of any course, it is judged first and foremost on its condition We appreciate and brag about condition That takes more than just the Greenkeeping team – it takes the Members to be invested in that goal too. How does that work in practice? It involves cart etiquette, divot filling, pitch mark repairs, and grabbing loose litter. These things and more help create those conditions that all players benefit from. RHCC is a great course and a great club. I’m so thrilled to be part of its history. Now, it’s your opportunity to be part of history!
