Around 30 invited guests attended a reception on Wednesday, 20 October, led by the guests of honour HE the Ambassador of Switzerland, Dr Daniel Woker and Mrs Myriam Woker. The purpose of the event was to introduce the newly refurbished Second Floor to the wider public and, after an Alphorn tune by Irma Thalmann, Swiss Club President Barbara Kündig took the opportunity to highlight the many advantages this space offers. ‘A multifunction venue with a difference!’ – this message was certainly not lost on the audience.
Roland Isler provided a synopsis of the Club’s history, followed by Antony Anderson who, as a member of the Redevelopment Sub-Committee, spoke about the refurbishment process. Promoting the floor and fulfilling the vision of creating an additional income stream for the Club, is the challenge the committee now faces. Damian Schaller encouraged all present to take advantage of this fantastic resource, recommend it to others and thereby support the Club. The Ambassador addressing the audience, praised the Committee in achieving such a great result. To conclude the evening, he unveiled a small plaque to commemorate this official opening.
