Tapescript Last Saturday it was hot and sunny so Pete and I went to a campsite near the beach. We took our sleeping bags and an old tent with us. In the morning we went swimming. The sea was very cold. In the afternoon we played volleyball on the beach with some other boys. We had something to eat at the café and we went to bed at about half past ten. But we only slept for about an hour, because then it started to rain. After a few minutes the rain started to come into our tent and then into our sleeping bags. The tent had a hole in it. We went home on Sunday morning. It was a very short trip.

They’re organising a talk about the work of Greenpeace, and Lisa is giving details about it on the local radio. Presenter: I’ve got Lisa here, who’s a member of our local Greenpeace group. And she’s going to tell us about an interesting talk that’s coming up soon. Lisa? Lisa: Thanks very much. Yes … well, the talk will take place at St. Mark’s Hall, Park Road on Friday 5th March. It starts at 7.30. Our speaker will be Justin Carter from the international environmental group Greenpeace. Justin works at Greenpeace’s head office in Amsterdam, in Holland, and at the moment he’s here in the UK to give a series of talks all over the country. Justin will talk about the history of Greenpeace, about how it began in Vancouver, Canada, in the early 1970s. He’ll tell us about their early campaigns against the construction of nuclear power stations, and their campaign to save the whale. He’ll also give us the latest news on some of Greenpeace’s more recent campaigns – the fight to stop oil companies from drilling for oil in the Arctic, their campaign to stop people from buying wood from the

Amazon rainforest, and their campaign to stop the huge fishing boats that are destroying thousands of sea creatures. After the talk, you’ll have a chance to ask questions and speak to Justin personally. And you’ll get a free drink – that’s included in the price of the ticket – and you’ll meet some nice people too! So please come, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Oh yes, tickets are five pounds, and you can get one at the door. And all the money will go to Greenpeace. Presenter: Sounds interesting. Thanks, Lisa. And now we’re going to hear a song by …
