Wool may be beautifully soft and cosy but traditionally there have been downsides and trade-offs between softness, practicality and washability. That’s why, for our woollen range, we have given nature a little help by taking advantage of the latest developments in fabric technology.
Extrafine Merino
Luxurious, soft and durable.
It’s hard to beat the look and feel of a finely knitted woollen jumper. Aesthetically they fit in just about anywhere and they are soft and luxuriously warm. It’s just that after a few months they can start to look like an old woolly. Extra fine knitting solves this by producing a jumper that is more durable, easily washed – by hand or in a washing machine – and will dry without losing its shape. And because we use merino, we also take advantage of a host of natural performance benefits.
Our performance knitwear starts with soft natural wool and makes it ready for the harsh realities of tough travel or the demands of constant use in everyday life. Depending on the expected use, we specify either extrafine merino, a blend of merino and polyester, or a woollen blend.
Merino Union
Warm, soft and practical.
Combining natural merino wool with technical synthetic fibres provides benefits from two worlds. Merino Union is lightweight, durable, quick drying and crease resistant, yet retains the warmth and comfort of natural merino wool. With the softness, anti-microbial and temperature regulation properties of merino boosted by the wicking performance of synthetics, this is a brilliant fabric for many ‘second skin’ garments, from base layers to washable, easycare dresses.
Woollen Blend
Easycare, warm and protective.
Wool adds a beautiful drape and timeless quality to wardrobe classics like winter coats and suits. By adding Rohan technology into the mix, we give these garments a boost in performance that allows them to become durable, packable, washable and easycare, all traditional Rohan virtues. For tailored suits, that means anti-crease fabric plus anti-stain and odour treatments. For coats it means an extra layer of thermal insulation. High quality wool is really just a great place to start.
