With the announcement, came an unvieling of RO’s new 50th logo...

Justin McAfee, CEO and President, and Preston McAfee, Chairman, announce RO’s 50th Anniversary at the end of 2018 with a video shown at the annual Christmas brunches, as well as shared on RO’s social media channels. Scan the QR code with your smart phone to watch the announcement.

Within the logo, is a timeline, displaying RO’s founding year, 1969, and showing the progression into 2019. Two different versions were created of the logo, to be used as seen fit when creating branded materials.

As part of RO’s anniversary announcement, the 2018 holiday cards were a unique, lenticular style. This means that depending on the angle you are looking at them, you either see the 2019 design, or the 1969 design.

Employees were surprised with swag items on their desks and in their job site trailers to help build excitement for RO’s 50th anniversary when everyone returned from the Christmas holiday.

The Dallas and Austin/San Antonio BBQ trailers were re-wrapped for RO’s 50th. The Austin BBQ trailer is a scaled down version of the Dallas trailer, which tells the story for those at the serving window of two childhood friends that started a construction company.

Similar to the RO BBQ trailers, the company trucks were re-wrapped to showcase a more up-to-date look and feel. Inspiration was drawn from the BBQ trailer designs, but was toned down for the truck design.

In 1969, two men from Gainesville, Texas, Steve Rogers and Pat O’Brien, inseparable friends since junior high, decided to start their own commercial construction company. From the day they went into business, they dealt with each other the way real friends do - with respect, integrity and mutual commitment. As the business grew, they dealt with every person and every company with these very same values. Today, the company and its people still strive to always do the right thing. Remaining faithful to the founders’ principles and standards has enabled Rogers-O’Brien Construction to consistently attract the very best clients, employees and building partners; to successfully complete projects of all sizes; to comfortably transition to three generations of leadership and to become nationally recognized in the list of top contractors by Engineering News Record (ENR). The RO team is extremely proud of this legacy and looks forward to honoring this history to build the future. In celebration of building Texas for 50 years, the RO team traveled to the Ironroot Republic Distillery in Denison, Texas. The team worked with the distillers to craft a special blend of their award winning bourbon. From our team to yours, cheers!

A custom RO-blended bourbon was created as client gifts, and tasting events were held throughout the year in different cities throughout Texas.

A legacy page was added to RO’s website. The legacy page takes visitors through RO’s timeline with an interactive scrolling experience. Scan the QR code below with your phone to view the web page.

A social media campaign was launched in 2019, with curated posts highlighting notable people, events and projects in RO’s history. It also included “Did You Know?” posts, with interesting facts about RO’s founding year, 1969. The hashtag, #ROturns50, was created and utilized throughout the year on all posts relating to RO’s 50 th. Employees were encouraged to use it on their own posts, helping to create a collaborative collection of photos from the anniversary year.

RO’s profile picture was updated across all of its social media platforms, to a 50 th hard hat, complete with a party hat on top.

SEPTEMBER 15-16, 2019 The largest event RO has ever thrown to-date, the company-wide 50th anniversary event was held at the RO-built Legacy Box Garden in Plano, Texas. Employees were bussed in from all offices and put up at the Renaissance Hotel at Legacy West. The Box Garden was rented out, and an open bar and musical performance by Straight Tequila Night made the night a success.

All employees and their plus ones were invited to the event. Job sites were shut down and offices were closed on Monday, September 16. Guests were surprised with 50 th swag bags in their hotel rooms. The bags included a waterproof duffle bag, a RTIC tumbler, a portable charging bank, a soft throw blanket, as well as a “recovery kit.”

At the 50 th event at Legacy Box Garden, guests were surprised with a premiere of RO’s 50th Legacy video. Key individuals in the company’s past and present sat down to reflect on the previous 50 years, and what makes RO special as Texas’ Premier Builder. To view RO’s Legacy video, scan the QR code below with your smart phone.

To commemorate RO’s past 50 years in a classic, timeless way, a coffee table book was put together and distributed to key employees, as well as put into each of the office’s lobbies. A digital version of the book was also created.

Capping off a year of celebrations, RO’s 2019 holiday card reflects the timeline design installed in the offices. When the receiver opens the envelope, the poster-like card is folded in many rectangles, and shows the 1969 frame. The backside reflects the 2019 frame, and the rest is reveled as the poster is unfolded.
