HAND PROTECTION
Protective gloves are designed to prevent injury and enhance performance and, in common with other PPE, there are international standards designed to ensure they are fit for the purpose for which they are intended. Our hand protection range is rigorously tested and variously encompasses certification for EN ISO 21420:2020, EN388:2016+A1:2018 and EN511:2006.
All Blackrock gloves are categorised into task-related families to help you quickly identify which are suited for the work being carried out.

EN ISO 21420:2020
This standard sets out general requirements and test methods. As a specifier, buyer or user of protective gloves you need to be assured that gloves certified to EN 388:2016 have also passed EN ISO 21420:2020 in order to achieve a Mechanical Hazard Rating (MHR).
EN388:2016+A1:2018
To help support your choice of gloves once a risk assessment has taken place, EN388 is the standard which is designed to assess the performance of the materials used in glove manufacture against the mechanical hazards of abrasion, blade cut, tear, puncture and, if applicable, impact. Gloves which conform to the standard are marked with a shield and the numbers and letters which relate to the levels of protection afforded to that glove once tested. 4X44C

Gloves certified to this standard are intended to protect the wearer from convective and contact cold.
The different performance levels are marked under a pictogram showing the standard plus the performance levels 1-4, where 4 denotes the highest level.

Our Eazi-Breathe respirators have an Assigned Protection Factor (APF) of 10 for FFP2 respirators and 20 for FFP3 respirators.
What does APF mean and why is it relevant?
The Assigned Protection Factor is the level of respiratory protection that a respirator is expected to provide employees in the workplace.
An APF of 10 means that no more than one tenth of the contaminants to which a worker is exposed will leak into the mask, equivalent to 94% filter effectiveness. APF of 20 gives you 99% filter efficiency.
