EDITOR’S LETTER

Oh, Wyoming! What a year it’s been. With limited traveling + staying close to home, I’ve been lucky enough to rediscover all of the beautiful places that neighbor my home state of Montana. The 4 hour drive south to Jackson still takes my breath away. It’s almost as though I was seeing everything for the first time - perspective is everything and sometimes it takes life slowing down to realize how lucky we all are. To you all; wedding vendors, brides + grooms, our team here at RMB, I’m so proud of everything we have conquered over the past year and a half. A true sentiment to what this is all really about - love. The upcoming pages reflect the true authenticity of Wyoming. The real weddings showcased throughout this magazine prove that love is never canceled. From elopements in Cody to black-tie affairs in Jackson Hole - there is so much beauty throughout this state. Not only will you be meeting Wyoming brides, just like you, but you’ll also be introduced to the vendors who brought their dreams to life. So, take notes of the couples’ advice and be inspired by the creativity within the pages ahead. I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

whirly girl A FLORAL FILLED AFTERNOON Whirly Girl Flowers is a boutique floral design studio specializing in creating unique floral arrangements for weddings and special events. Whether your ideal floral design is modern, elegant, or whimsical, Whirly Girl is passionate about her process of working with you to create an arrangement that reflects your style and personality. Located in Sheridan, a city known for its fabled Western history and dramatic mountain vistas, Myca founded Whirly Girl Flowers twelve years ago to pursue her love of creative design for friends and family. Myca never imagined her floristry hobby would flourish into a fulltime business but she’s delighted to bring beauty to weddings.

- local finds -

Myca believes that flowers evoke emotion and uses texture, color, and thoughtful design to translate feelings into the present moment. In addition to her design decisions, Myca is an advocate of sustainable practices, sourcing flowers and tackling approachable options head-on. As a florist in rural Northern Wyoming, she supports local flower farms whenever possible including purchasing in-season products and flowers. Myca chooses not to work with floral foam, the green squishy material you find at the bottom of an arrangement and instead packs arrangements in flower shipping boxes, reusing leftover packing materials to reduce waste.

Lindsey + Ben / Meeteetse

- engagement -

Lindsey and Ben shared mutual friends in college, but had never met. While living in Colorado, Lindsey embarked on a road trip to visit family in her hometown of Bellingham, Washington. She was passing through Cody, and knowing Ben was living there, decided to reach out to him and suggested meeting for dinner. Fast forward two years, Lindsey and Ben set off for opening day of pheasant hunting season. The day started like any other opening weekend, brimming with enthusiasm and excitement. Little did Lindsey know an unexpected surprise awaited. As the hunt came to an end, Ben kneeled down to propose, and suddenly a ring emerged from inside his hunting vest.

Linny + Jay / Grand Teton National Park

Linny and Jay met while both living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They shared a mutual love for the city and a passion to explore the outdoors. Jay swept Linny off her feet on their first date, which included a bike ride through the city, dinner at her favorite restaurant, and tickets to a concert. Five years later, Linny and Jay set off for a two-week road trip to South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. Halfway through their journey, they stopped in Jackson Hole. The couple decided to tackle the challenging Delta Lake trail, a hidden gem located in the southwest corner of Grand Teton National Park. After an exhilarating and exhausting climb, they headed back to the hotel to rest and restore their energy for the remainder of the day. Once at the hotel, Jay proposed to Linny! They celebrated in downtown Jackson and shared the news with their families by sending a photo of Linny holding up a mozzarella stick adorned with her engagement ring.

Bayleigh + Kyle / Grand Teton National Park

Bayleigh and Kyle met while attending the same high school; over time the two formed a close friendship, but it wasn’t until Kyle graduated that they began testing the waters of dating. As is known, timing can greatly influence the whirlwind of romantic tales. The young pair were called to serve missions for their church, leading them to a new chapter of their lives apart from one another. When Bayleigh arrived home, two years later, she was dispirited to learn that Kyle was in a relationship. Fast forward, the stars aligned, timing and fate intervened and brought the couple back together. The morning of the prospal, Kyle greeted Bayleigh bright and early to watch the sunrise. Kyle transformed a dock on the lake into a relaxed, euphoric setting. As they chatted about spending a lifetime together, Kyle popped the question.

Helene + Matt / Grand Teton National Park

- bridals -

Helene and Matt met in Jackson over the Fourth of July weekend. Helene was living in New York City, New York, at the time, visiting a friend, while Matt traveled from Bozeman, Montana to run a race and climb the Teton Range. On the eve of July 4th, Helene and Matt found themselves at the same bar. Realizing that a money clip was dropped and credit cards were scattered on the floor, Helene bent down to retrieve the items when her eyes locked with the handsome owner. The chance meeting led to delightful conversations and a weekend of exploring Jackson together. Both returned to their respective homes and a month had passed when Matt made his first trip to New York City, and the rest is history! Three and a half years later and a move to Northern California, the couple set off for a hike along Muir Beach, where Matt got down on one knee and asked Helene to marry him.

Kendall + Parker JACKSON

Kendall and Parker were both involved in Greek life at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. They were introduced to each other by mutual friends. Five years of dating brought them to Omaha, Nebraska where Parker attended medical school. Celebrating their Golden Retriever’s first birthday, they set off on a lengthy walk in their favorite place, Memorial Park. Parker opted for a change of scenery and they roamed down an unfamiliar path that led to a rose garden. Catching a glimpse of her father’s car, Kendall was both confused and surprised since he should have been in Minnesota, not Nebraska. The surprise continued as Kendall turned to Parker only to discover him down on one knee. The newly engaged pair returned home where their families awaited with champagne. Kendall and Parker planned an intimate and timeless wedding for May 30th.

“We decided to get married in Jackson Hole from the very beginning. We knew we wanted to have a destination wedding as Parker’s side of the family is from Nebraska and my side is from Minnesota. We love the crisp fresh mountain air, hiking, camping, and we especially love the quaint Western town of Jackson. The Grand Tetons are something so incredible that we wanted to get married with them as the backdrop and to share this special place with our closest friends and family.”

ADVICE TO FUTURE COUPLES “Focus on what is the most important to you and your fiancé when planning your wedding and make sure to keep that as your main focus throughout the planning process. It is easy to try to please everyone, but ultimately it is a celebration for the two of you and your love and future together.”

Avery +Wyatt CODY

Avery and Wyatt met in a traditional small town way at a local bar with the help of Wyatt’s parents who were playing matchmaker. The story boasts quintessential elements of the Hallmark movies that we know and love. Though Avery was acquainted with Wyatt’s family, it wasn’t until one wintery evening celebrating the start of Christmas break that their paths crossed. The following day, romance budded as they set off for a first date in the quaint mountain town of Red Lodge, Montana. Over the next ten months, the two couldn’t help but be completely swept away with one another. One afternoon, Wyatt, a spontaneous soul, orchestrated a last minute day trip to the restaurant where they shared their first date. As the outing came to an end, they wandered back to the truck, when Wyatt joyfully shouted to a group of women strolling down the sidewalk, “Hey ladies, watch this!” Right there, under the snowfall Wyatt proposed to Avery. Avery and Wyatt decided on an intimate mountain elopement on July 9th.

- elopement -

ETHEREAL ELOPEMENT

Avery and Wyatt exchanged vows with two guests present in the Carter Mountains, a colossal range that dominates Cody’s southwestern skyline. For the Wild West setting, Avery accessorized with gold handcrafted booties and unique Native American jewelry that was given as a gift while Wyatt wore a stonewash denim shirt from Wrangler, which he paired with classic cowboy style boots.

Maddie +Rob JACKSON Maddie and Rob met over beers, après-ski, with a few mutual friends. The two shared a conversation about backcountry skiing and made plans to ski together later that week. At the appointed meeting time, Maddie found herself alone. With no sign of Rob anywhere, Maddie opted to start the mountain hike without him. Suddenly, Rob appeared after trekking as fast as he could up Mount Glory to catch her. Maddie and Rob skied one of the best powder runs of their life that day, and the rest is history! Three years later, on a backcountry skiing trip in Grand Teton National Park accompanied by their two friends, Rob proposed. At the peak, just 25 feet short of 10,000 right when the cloudy skies cleared, Rob asked Maddie to marry him. Rob’s best friend and his wife carried a bottle of champagne all the way to the summit for the newly engaged couple to open and celebrate. They planned a casual summer minimony for July 11th.

- elopement -

MINIMONY ON THE RIVER

“The ceremony was special and very non-traditional, with some humor involved and a genuinely stunning backdrop. We had floated the same river section a few weeks earlier to pick a good place to pull the rafts over where everyone could gather with great Teton views. Rob’s dad did an amazing job at officiating. We wrote our own vows without consulting each other and they ended up being hilariously similar. We ended the ceremony by dancing to “You Make My Dreams Come True” by Hall & Oates while our shirtless friends used water guns to shoot streams of water over us instead of rice. I feel like people usually use the adjective beautiful to describe ceremonies, but we would describe ours as fun and so special!”

Kenzie and David crossed paths on a bus trip to Denver, Colorado to watch a Christmas play. David charmed Kenzie with his humor and they soon became high school sweethearts. Seven years later, David proposed on New Year’s Eve in downtown Denver at the stroke of midnight under an array of fireworks. Tears of happiness streamed down Kenzie’s face as she nodded her head, “Yes.” Kenzie and David planned a whimsical wedding for August 8th.

Kenzie and David exchanged vows at a private residence set in front of a floral adorned arch, overflowing with beautiful hanging flowers. The backyard of a family member’s home was transformed into an elegant dream-like setting that portrayed illustrations from a fairy tale storybook. The bride donned a sparkling long sleeve A-line gown accessorized with a hand-beaded hair vine, adding another hint of magic to the day.

Molly + Blake BUFORD

After meeting through mutual friends, Molly and Blake truly connected. The duo deviated from first-date clichés like dinner or catching a movie. Instead, they chose to ignite their adventurous spirits by going skydiving. Four years into dating, while on a trip to New York City, New York, Blake proposed to Molly at the gorgeous Bethesda Fountain in Central Park overlooking the southern shore of the lake. A few months later, Molly popped the question to Blake with a simple and personal proposal in their home. Molly and Blake planned a casual rustic elopement for August 16th.

SWEET EMBRACE

“Our officiant, Mary, was able to incorporate important spiritual beliefs and teachings into our ceremony that we try our best to live by. Our vows were incredibly personal and meaningful to us. We loved the part of our ceremony where Mary asked our guests, in-person and online, to hold us accountable and support us in our marriage, and everyone expressed their commitment to do so. It was meaningful to us to have our dog-of-honor present and one of our best friends as the ring bearer.”

Abigail + Tommy G R A N D T E T O N N AT I O N A L P A R K

Abigail and Tommy met when they were just kids in middle school. The two grew up together in the same town, but it wasn’t until five years ago that their paths crossed and they have been inseparable ever since. Two years later, Tommy took Abigail on a date to one of their favorite local restaurants. After dinner, Tommy had a surprise waiting for them at the next location, he blindfolded Abigail as they drove to Abigail’s parent’s lakehouse. There, Tommy carried Abigail out of the truck and presented her with a scene right out of a movie. Above the cedar dock hung string lights, accompanied by champagne, cheesecake, roses and a warm burning bonfire. Tears began rolling down Abigail’s cheeks as Tommy asked her to be his wife. Abigail and Tommy planned a Western boho wedding for September 19th.

SACRED UNION

“We both come from a Catholic background and wanted to make sure God was included in our ceremony. Prayer was a big part of that whole week with our family and friends. After the ceremony and before our meal, we all stood around the food and held hands and lowered our heads to thank the Lord for the amazing day and for everyone making it to our wedding safely and for witnessing such a beautiful day.”

ADVICE TO FUTURE COUPLES “Don’t sweat the small stuff. Everything happens the way it’s meant to happen. It rained the whole day of our wedding and right as we got to the ceremony location the rain stopped and the sun came out for the ceremony and for our pictures. Once we were done, the rain started back up again. You can’t control everything and that’s okay. It makes for the best moments.”

“Our family cooked up a big shrimp broil and ate and danced to “Jackson” by Johnny Cash all night long. We had our first dance out on the deck of one of our Airbnbs surrounded by everyone with sparklers and it was beautiful!”

Brie + Ben S A R AT O G A

Brie was confident and steadfast that she was the type of bachelorette who would never get married or have children. Planning a first date with a newly divorced father of two brought some initial hesitation, however Brie’s friend encouraged her to show Ben the dating ropes and the rest would fall into place. While sitting across from each other at Jax Fish House, the two chatted and quickly recognized a natural undeniable connection. Almost six months later, Brie received a devastating phone call from Ben that his ex-wife and mother of his two children had tragically passed away. The pair’s adventurous every other weekend travels promptly transformed. Brie traded in her sporty SUV for a more suitable mom vehicle and sold her city condo for a mountain home in Vail, Colorado. Four years into their relationship, Brie and Ben were engaged to be married. One weekend, Brie and Ben returned home to be greeted by the kids waiting in the driveway with a small ring box. Hayden and Harvey then asked to make it official and join their family forever. Amidst the heartening emotion, Brie’s family emerged as the garage door opened. Brie and Ben planned a Western chic wedding for September 26th.

BECOMING A UNION

“Our ceremony was extremely intimate and emotional - given the nature of our family. My dad was the officiant, Hayden, our daughter, was my Maid of Honor, and Harvey, our son, was Ben’s Best Man. We had little cousins as flower girls and ring bearers and even our Miniature Golden Retriever, Shep, was in the wedding party. I tearfully said vows to our two kids, promising to love them as their mother on this Earth, in conjunction with their angelic mother above. We finished the emotional ceremony by Ben and I expressing handwritten vows to one another.”

MEANINGFUL MOMENT

“My dad was gracious enough to treat all of the wedding guests to the all-inclusive ranch for the weekend. After a tough four years of grief and strife, I was so grateful my dad gifted us the opportunity to thank our dear friends and family that have helped us through it all. Every person there has been part of our emotional journey and will continue to make an impact as part of our village.”
