Irish + Brandon

When Brandon traveled from Newfoundland to Calgary for work, he only expected to stay a week. Little did he know that the project would keep him there for a year, ultimately changing the rest of his life. Irish and Brandon met during that one-year period, and Brandon relocated from Newfoundland permanently.

On the day of the proposal, one of Calgary’s worst blizzards swept through the region, leaving more than 40cm of snow in its wake. Brandon had planned the perfect Christmas photoshoot and proposal, but closed roads and stuck cars made the day more adventurous than originally anticipated. Finally arriving at the third-attempted location for the day, a stunning overlook of the Canadian Rockies, Brandon got down on one knee. The sun was perfectly setting, and they both cried tears of happiness, knowing their forever was with each other.

Lovers of the outdoors and adventure, getting married in the Rocky Mountains was a no-brainer for Irish and Brandon. They knew Whistler would be the perfect place from the first moment they visited the area together. As they navigated the difficulty of planning a wedding through the pandemic, the day finally came together on December 8th, 2021. After over a year of lockdown, perhaps the most special part of the day was celebrating with their friends and family who they’d been apart from for so long. As they said their vows through the falling snow in front of the mountains, the sun peaked out perfectly, reminding them of all the light there is to come.
