Introduced by a mutual friend, Heather and Sean connected instantly. Between ski days, hiking trails and weekends spent exploring the outdoors, they quickly realized they shared a love for adventure. Four years later, Sean planned a surprise backcountry ski trip to Tetrahedron Provincial Park on the Sunshine Coast. As snow fell outside the remote hut where they were staying, he proposed. To no surprise, Heather and Sean chose to celebrate with a winter wedding at Sunshine Village Ski Resort. Surrounded by 105 of their closest friends and family, the couple exchanged vows on a snowy deck with the Canadian Rockies as their witness. Afterward, they embraced the adventure that has defined their relationship from the very beginning, skiing down the mountain in a classic black tuxedo and sleek satin gown. While the ceremony and packed dance floor made for an unforgettable celebration, their favourite moment was slipping away at sunset for a few quiet runs together.

Introduced by mutual friends, Fallon and Nolan hit it off immediately and quickly realized they had found something special. Less than two years later, Nolan was ready to ask Fallon to be his wife. On one of the first beautiful spring days of the season, the couple set out for a ride on Fallon’s family ranch just south of Longview. After carrying the ring around the ranch for weeks, waiting for the perfect moment, Nolan finally got down on one knee surrounded by their horses and sweeping views of the snow-capped mountains. There was no more fitting backdrop for their engagement session than the ranch where their forever began.

TANISHA + NICK Tanisha and Nick first met at work. With office romances often considered taboo, the pair kept their relationship under wraps while getting to know one another. After dating for a little over two years, Nick transformed their apartment into a romantic setting filled with candles, fresh flowers and handwritten love notes. As Tanisha’s favourite song, “Roses” by Divine Lightbody, played in the background, Nick got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him.

After hearing all about Arlyssia from a mutual friend, Daryll decided to take a chance and slide into her Instagram DMs, and it wasn’t long before the two went on their first date. Seven years later, Daryll planned the ultimate surprise proposal. “Daryll told me that we had a breakfast reservation that morning,” Arlyssia shares. “When we arrived at this alleged ‘breakfast’ location two hours later, we pulled into a parking lot with a helicopter pad. We had just bought our first home two months before, so he told me the surprise helicopter ride was his gift to celebrate such a big milestone.” After taking in breathtaking mountain views from above and enjoying a winter walk through the snow-covered landscape, she turned around to find Daryll down on one knee, asking her to spend forever with him.

Bailey and Jordan’s story started with a tweet and a little help from a mutual friend. Bailey posted that she wanted to start a band and was looking for a guitarist, which led their mutual friend Andrei to send her number to Jordan. They met to play music and started dating two months later after a first kiss in a crowded pub on St. Patrick’s Day. Six years later, Jordan proposed one week into a nearly month-long Europe trip on a beach in St. Andrews, Scotland. They kept their engagement a secret until they got back to Canada. “Those few weeks of the two of us being the only ones who knew were magical,” Bailey shared. For their engagement photos, Garneau Theatre made perfect sense. Outside of music, film was one of the first things they bonded over, and with countless movie dates behind them, the historic theatre felt like the right place to tell this part of their story.

Set against the private estate setting of Azuridge Estate Hotel, the inspiration draws from the venue’s dramatic glass ceremony backdrop and intimate atmosphere, while a palette of powder blue, peach and warm ivory creates an aesthetic that feels airy and elegant.

Framed by lush floral arrangements and the estate’s floor-to-ceiling glass windows, the ceremony design allowed the surrounding landscape to become part of the setting. The groom looked crisp in a navy tuxedo with black satin detailing, while the bride wore the Salomé gown by SAINT Bridal Couture from The Bridal Boutique. Featuring a sculptural strapless neckline, a dropped waist and a softly pleated organza skirt, the gown created beautiful movement with every step, from the ceremony aisle to the dance floor. Florist, With The Seasons, completed the look with a bouquet of sweet peas, garden roses, ranunculus and spray roses.
The reception welcomed guests with an inviting tablescape layered in floral patterned blue linens, crystal-clear chairs and lush florals accented with spirea, delphinium and tweedia. Flickering taper candles cast a warm glow across the space, while delicate cursive calligraphy woven throughout the stationery and tabletop details added a romantic, heirloominspired feel. The celebration concluded with a stunning three-tier cake by Madeline Sugarcraft, adorned with intricate handmade sugar flowers that mirrored the floral palette.

Danielle and Thomas’ story started with a mutual friend and a shared Calgary Flames obsession. In 2018, Danielle’s friend was in a master’s program on the East Coast with a guy from Calgary who was apparently just as obsessed with the Flames as she was. Naturally, they later ran into each other at a hockey game over Christmas break. Danielle slid into his DMs not long after, and their first date followed the next week. The second date took a little longer, not arriving until the next year when she joined the same master’s program, but once it did, that was pretty much it. Years later in Joshua Tree, California, Thomas planned to propose on a hike before Danielle, having noticed a suspicious ring box-shaped bulge in his pocket and feeling “very hot, sweaty and scratched up by cactus,” may or may not have redirected the plan. Instead, he asked later by the fire at their Airbnb after dinner, taking about 30 nervous minutes to work up the courage while the sun went down.
THE COUPLE EDIT ADVICE: If you can swing it, keep the wedding small and do it over a weekend rather than one day! Spending three days with both of our closest friends and family was a once in a lifetime experience. FAVOURITE PURCHASE: Our custom craft beers! I designed the beer labels and put them on one of our favourite beers from a local Calgary brewery. They were a hit! SOMETHING OLD: All of our thrifted décor! SOMETHING NEW: My wedding band SOMETHING BORROWED: My earrings from my bridesmaid Jenna SOMETHING BLUE: My wedding shoes! Though I ended up switching into flats before the ceremony. GROOM'S NON-NEGOTIABLE: Our dog AISLE SONG: "To Build a Home" by Patrick Watson SIGNATURE COCKTAILS: Hers: Lavender lemonade & His: Spicy margarita FIRST DANCE SONG: "Sweet Heat Lightning" by Gregory Alan Isakov CAKE FLAVOUR: Strawberry shortcake LATE NIGHT SNACKS: Mac and cheese VENDOR LOVE: First, our photographer, Carissa. I really can't imagine having had anyone else capture our day. Not only was she such an expert in her craft (I can't believe how much of the day she was able to capture), but she 100% went above and beyond. She came out to meet us the night of our rehearsal dinner, helping us scout out some photo spots ahead of the big day and even took some amazing film photos out of her own generosity. She was so organized and genuinely kind, it felt like having an extra wedding planner and friend to spend the day with. Second, our florist, Avalon Flower Farm, Susanne was so kind and easy to work with as my vision changed a few times leading up to the wedding. She was having trouble sourcing one particular flower for my bouquet and actually ended up driving out to her friend's garden the night before the wedding to get some! My bridal bouquet was better than I could’ve ever imagined and one of my favourite things about the day. The bud vase arrangements were also exactly as I had envisioned.
For their wedding, The Tides on Pender Island gave them exactly what they wanted. With 50 guests, ocean views and their closest friends able to stay on-site for the weekend, the celebration had more room to breathe. They called the aesthetic a “coastal garden party,” but the heart of it was really the feeling: laid-back, personal and easy to settle into. They had an intimate legal ceremony with only their parents, then a larger ceremony officiated by one of their best friends, with their pup, Hudson, serving as ring bearer. Personal vows were a must, and hearing them out loud became one of the highlights. “I’m biased, but I think we both killed them,” Danielle shared. Music mattered too, with the couple spending months building playlists so the day sounded like them from start to finish. Dinner included a nod to Thomas’ Ukrainian family with perogies, which his uncle apparently took very seriously, eating 23. Later, the speeches hit especially hard, with Danielle sharing that her family does not often talk about emotions, so hearing those words and seeing how much everyone meant to each other felt impossible to describe.

Kat & Tyler
Unlike many modern couples, Tyler slid into Kat’s DMs, but not on the app you’re thinking. Their love story actually began on VSCO, a photo editing app. Four years later, Tyler planned to propose during a trip to Cancún, Mexico, complete with an extravagant beachfront dinner. When a massive storm rolled in and canceled his carefully planned evening, he still found a way to make the moment unforgettable, asking Kat to marry him on the beach. The couple went on to plan a celebration with 200 guests at The Norland Historic Estate, bringing their vision of old-money elegance with a modern luxe twist to life.

For the ceremony, Kat stunned in a romantic Alena Leena gown featuring delicate Chantilly lace, soft tulle and custom sleeves, while Tyler complemented her look in a custom double-breasted suit jacket. Beneath the trees of The Norland Historic Estate, guests were seated in a unique curved arrangement that drew every eye toward the couple and their elevated circular ceremony platform. Following the ceremony, Kat and Tyler honoured an Austrian tradition by cutting their wedding cakes and sharing coffee before the reception began. As guests transitioned into the evening’s festivities, an Espresso Martini tower complete with sparklers served as the perfect kickoff to the party, while “Higher Love” by Kygo played in the background.

Our florist, With The Seasons, did such a beautiful job creating the custom platform with Nicole for our ceremony that had baskets of incredible arrangements that made the space so warm and romantic. We also did a digital save-the-date video with Love and Lore Films and loved having that as a precursor to the day. Charm Diamonds did all of our jewellery and had been on the journey with us since the engagement; we are so grateful for them and how beautiful their pieces are!

Hayley and Jeff first met at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, in 2010. Over the next fourteen years, they travelled the world together, pursued new career opportunities and called more than six cities home. Then, during a holiday visit to her family farm, Jeff turned one of Hayley’s favourite rituals into an unforgettable moment. He asked her to take a quick break from work and join him for a visit with the horses. When they arrived at the barn, flowers were waiting and the horses served as the only witnesses as he got down on one knee.

CAKE FLAVOUR: We didn't have a cake and opted for tiramisu for dessert FIRST DANCE SONG: "Bones" by Russell Dickerson LATE NIGHT SNACKS: Burgers and s'mores over fire pits SONG THAT MADE EVERYONE DANCE: "Love Story" by Taylor Swift VENDOR LOVE: All of our vendors were amazing, a few specific shoutouts (in no particular order): Lauren, our wedding planner with Elyse&Co Events! We could not have done it without her, she was calm under pressure and made sure all the pieces fell into place. Kristy and Ken from Blush Wedding Photography did such an incredible job capturing all the special moments throughout the day. The Love Team did an amazing job at hair and makeup for the bridal party. White Table Catering & Events, the food and drinks were fantastic, and we heard many times from guests that it was "the best food they've had at a wedding." Side One Band brought the energy and played all of our favourites all night. Niche Boutique Florals in Fort Langley did a stunning job with the flowers. Finally, Melissa from Sitka Studios was really awesome and jumped in last minute to add fairy lights to the tent!

Hayley and Jeff chose to marry at her parents’ farm in Langley, welcoming nearly 100 of their closest friends and family to celebrate alongside them. With the help of their vendor team, the property was transformed into an elegant celebration space featuring lush white florals, soft touches of green inspired by the surrounding landscape and a clear-top reception tent that allowed guests to dine beneath the September sky. Hayley wore a sleek KYHA Bride gown paired with a dramatic floral-appliqué veil for the ceremony overlooking the horse pasture. As guests transitioned into the reception, Hayley traded her gown for a simple white Aritzia slip dress and cowboy boots, while a bridesmaid-approved champagne tower and live band set the stage for a lively evening that carried well into the night.

Kristen and Brent first met at a local riding stable, where a shared love of horses brought them together. As Kristen says, “When you know, you know,” and just a year and a half later, Brent planned an intimate proposal in Kelowna on a sunny Christmas Eve afternoon. He threaded the engagement ring onto a blue satin ribbon and tied it in a bow around the neck of his horse, Rolo. When Kristen spotted the ring, Brent got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. The couple went on to plan an intimate wedding with just 46 guests, bringing together their favourite elements of the Côte d’Azur through French and Spanish wines, Eastern Mediterranean cuisine and the sounds of Spanish guitar and classical music.

Hosted on the couple’s own acreage, Kristen walked down the aisle in a classic Allure Bridals gown paired with a cathedral-length veil. Meanwhile, Brent made his entrance on horseback aboard Rolo before placing a custom saddle engraved with his late papa’s initials on a stand in his memory. After exchanging vows, guests gathered in the orchard for an al fresco dinner, where French-inspired macarons from Sandrine’s Bakery accompanied a lemon cutting cake from Marmalade Bakery. To kick off the celebration, Brent sabered a bottle of champagne to fill the champagne tower before the couple toasted their marriage alongside their closest loved ones beneath twinkling lights.

Lyndall & Andrew
After meeting in August 2020, Lyndall and Andrew quickly bonded over their shared love of the mountains. A month later, they met for their first date at Purple Perk Café in Calgary, where chocolate cake and easy conversation led to a sunset stroll along the Elbow River. Looking back, Lyndall remembers, “It was the most beautiful sunset that night, and I'm a sucker for sunsets. I took a photo because I feel like part of me knew that this was the start of something special.” A little over two years later, Lyndall and Andrew planned a trip to the mountains to capture content for their dog Kevin's Instagram page. During a hike through Stewart Canyon near Lake Minnewanka, Andrew surprised Lyndall with a proposal she never saw coming. Although the idea briefly crossed her mind earlier in the day, Andrew quickly put those thoughts to rest, leaving her completely caught off guard when she unzipped Kevin’s backpack and discovered a ring box hidden inside.
“The mountains are our happy place. It’s what we connected over. It’s where we go to relax. It's where we got engaged. So naturally, it's where we’re getting married.” With the help of Rocky Mountain Wedding Collective, the couple welcomed 70 of their closest friends and family to Rundleview Park for a romantic, organic and elegant wedding. Scottish touches honoured Andrew’s heritage throughout the day, from the kilts worn by family and friends to the thistle woven into the boutonnieres. Andrew wore custom-made Weathered Buchanan trews crafted by Mitchell Scott in Scotland, while Lyndall stunned in a sleek Laudae gown paired with a flowing Truvelle veil. Of course, their dog, Kevin, joined in, serving as Best Dog in a matching tartan bow tie. Following the ceremony, guests made their way to Mainspace Canmore, where Andrew’s brother, Alistair, and his wife, Zoe, delivered a toast filled with unexpected laughs before everyone celebrated the night away on the dance floor!

From the moment we met, we knew that we could trust her with bringing our vision to life. Something my mom always said to me was, "If you want it done right, do it yourself." So as you can imagine, the thought of not having control over something, especially a milestone life moment like this, was scary for me. However, I knew it would be physically impossible for me to do everything on my own, especially day-of. After meeting our coordinator, we were so confident in her capabilities from day one, and we knew we were in good hands. She is incredibly detailoriented, and I fully trusted her judgment. And everything turned out amazing!

Tashya-Rose and Nicolas first met at a family friend’s birthday party, and what began as a chance meeting quickly had the two attached at the hip. More than eight years later, Nicolas brought Tashya-Rose back to the lake where they had shared a walk on their very first date. Under the glow of his truck’s headlights, he led her to the water’s edge before dropping to one knee with a bouquet of flowers and a ring in hand. Inspired by vintage elegance, the couple welcomed 175 guests to Vancouver’s Fairmont Waterfront for a celebration defined by old-money glamour.

The couple exchanged vows during a traditional Roman Catholic ceremony at St. Helen’s Parish, where Nicolas wore his Fire Department Class A dress uniform, reserved for firefighters’ most significant occasions. Tashya-Rose complemented the timeless setting in a sophisticated strapless Everly Bridal gown, styled with an Italian lace-embroidered blusher veil and platform Jimmy Choo heels. Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the Fairmont Waterfront, where a striking black-and-white checkered dance floor anchored the reception. Hundreds of glowing candles, sculptural white florals and elegant calla lilies transformed the ballroom, while guests dressed entirely in black perfected the monochromatic scene.
THE COUPLE EDIT ADVICE: We encourage couples not to rush to the wedding. Enjoying being engaged is something we feel can be lost through all the commotion of wedding planning. FAVOURITE PURCHASE: For myself, my favourite thing that was purchased for the wedding was my dress, I felt it was me in a dress, simple & elegant. For Nicolas, his favourite purchase was his Gucci bow tie, for him it literally tied his whole outfit together. SOMETHING BLUE: My sister-in-law, in a wedding of all black, she was the only one in blue. FRAGRANCE: Replica by the Fireplace by Maison Margiela NON-NEGOTIABLES: Hers: I needed to have cascading flowers, they were worth it 1000x over! & His: Nicolas wanted the best DJs we could get and boy did they deliver a performance! AISLE SONG: "The Carnival of Animals- The Swan" & "Canon in D" SIGNATURE COCKTAILS: Hers: Aperol Spritz & His: Tequila soda with lime FIRST DANCE SONG: "Speechless" by Dan + Shay CAKE FLAVOUR: Red velvet VENDOR LOVE: I could not pick one if I tried. The first would be our coordinator, Vanja, she ran the day so smoothly with not one aspect going wrong. The second would be our décor, they took our vision and made it complete magic. Lastly the hotel staff of the Fairmont Waterfront, they made sure every single guest as well as all family members and bridal party were well taken care of.

Lamiah & Jake Lamiah and Jake first connected when Jake took a chance and slid into Lamiah’s Instagram DMs. Despite living hundreds of miles apart, with Lamiah in graduate school in Montreal and Jake in Michigan, the two quickly discovered an effortless connection. Four years later, during a trip to Tofino, Jake proposed on the quiet shores of Tonquin Beach just as the rain cleared, creating an intimate moment the couple says they will cherish forever. Lamiah and Jake went on to plan a vibrant fall wedding celebration blending Indian traditions with mid-century modern design for 125 guests, starting with a vibrant Mehndi celebration featuring henna artists, Bollywood music, lively dancing and a colourful bangle bar hosted at Bridgette Bar in Canmore.

For the ceremony, bold blooms in shades of orange, yellow and peach lined the aisle and framed the couple as they exchanged vows against a backdrop of golden aspens and the Canadian Rockies. Lamiah honoured her Indian heritage in a custom white and gold bridal lehenga designed in India, while Jake complemented her look in a timeless black tuxedo. As the celebration moved indoors, guests were welcomed into The Gem’s light-filled reception space, where floor-to-ceiling windows continued to showcase the surrounding mountain views. One of the evening’s most memorable moments came during the father-daughter dance, when Lamiah and her dad surprised guests with a fully choreographed performance that had everyone cheering before the dance floor officially opened.

Jenavie and Braydon first connected on Tinder. Although Braydon and Jenavie were both convinced the other was out of their league, they decided to take a chance and swipe right. Lucky for them, they were wrong. Seven years later, Braydon proposed during a hike in Kananaskis, leading her to a secluded overlook before their families emerged from the trees to celebrate with champagne and a picnic. The couple went on to plan a moody, romantic wedding for 84 guests at Charbar, their favourite restaurant in Calgary. After exchanging vows on the rooftop patio overlooking the Bow River, they changed into red ensembles for the reception to honour Braydon’s Chinese heritage, where the colour symbolizes luck, prosperity and good fortune. Guests were also gifted lucky red envelopes filled with lottery tickets, putting a playful twist on a cherished tradition, before dancing the night away to a soundtrack that blended reggae music in celebration of Jenavie’s Caribbean roots.

I reached out to her in a panic a few days before the wedding because my dress wasn’t fitting right (I couldn’t get it to stay up) and my original seamstress said that nothing could be done. Lina completely calmed my nerves and sewed in a custom lace-up back in my dress so I could tighten it as much as I needed to. She really saved the day and I’ll never stop boasting about her!

Neesha and Joel, like many modern couples, first connected on a dating app. After five years together, Joel was ready to propose. Knowing he wanted to capture the moment without raising suspicion, he suggested taking new family photos with their beloved dog, Bronx, for their Christmas cards. But instead of setting the camera to self-timer, he quietly pressed record, capturing the moment forever. With the help of wedding planner, Erin of Filosophi, Neesha and Joel planned a refined autumn-inspired wedding at Athiana Acres, where 150 guests gathered to celebrate surrounded by warm shades of burnt orange, ivory and earthy neutrals.

The festivities began the evening before the wedding with a vibrant Jaggo Night, where Neesha and Joel welcomed loved ones for a joyful celebration rich in colour, music and tradition. The following day, Neesha wore a sophisticated two-piece gown from Everly Bridal, pairing the modern silhouette with an intricate statement necklace. Joel complemented the look in a tailored dark brown suit from Herman Menswear. After exchanging vows among the blooming flower fields, guests gathered beneath an elegant clear-top tent accented with sparkling disco balls and chandeliers. Throughout the celebration, the couple honoured their dog, Bronx, with custom bar menus and, of course, a signature cocktail named in his memory.

Rhiannon and Riley first met as teenagers through the junior squash program at Calgary’s Glencoe Club. Years later, they unexpectedly reconnected at a basement bar called Wurst, where Riley still remembered Rhiannon’s old squash nickname, “Giggles.” What started as a chance reunion quickly turned into something more, and the pair have been inseparable ever since. After dating for a little over six years, the couple set off on a 10-day road trip down the California coast. While driving the iconic 17-Mile Drive in Carmel, Riley had the proposal planned down to the exact viewpoint after researching the route extensively beforehand. Of course, when they finally arrived, it was packed with tourists. Determined to make it happen, Riley led Rhiannon in search of a quieter spot before finding the perfect little corner to get down on one knee and ask her to marry him.
With the help of Harry George Weddings, Rhiannon and Riley planned a vintage alpine winter wedding surrounded by 57 of their closest family and friends, who arrived at the mountaintop ceremony by chairlift. Rhiannon wore a custom Couture by Maisoon gown featuring a dramatic overskirt layered over a fitted lace silhouette, later transforming it into a second reception look by removing the skirt, while Riley complemented the alpine setting in a classic Canali tuxedo, wool overcoat and Burberry scarf. Following their vows, the newlyweds made their getaway aboard the North American chairlift, complete with a “Just Married” sign and tin cans trailing behind. Guests then gathered inside the Cliffhouse Bistro for a candlelit reception overlooking Banff, where cozy blankets, an avalanche hut bar, fondue and ten cakes served tableside brought their vision of vintage alpine charm to life. 140

Wearing them on their wedding day was a surprise to Riley and made the sentimental gift even more meaningful. SOMETHING NEW: A David Yurman pearl bracelet gifted from my parents. FRAGRANCE: Couture Couture by Juicy Couture, the same fragrance I wore when Riley and I reconnected in 2018. Wearing it again on our wedding day was a sentimental nod to the beginning of our relationship. SHADE OF LIPSTICK: Lip Liner in Wherever Walnut by Makeup Forever, Loyalist Lipstick by Maybelline and Fussy Lip Gloss by Fenty Beauty. AISLE SONG: "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac (instrumental) FIRST DANCE SONG: "In My Life" by The Beatles SECOND LOOK: Rather than changing into a second gown, I transformed my custom Couture by Maisoon dress by removing its dramatic overskirt to reveal the fitted lace silhouette beneath. The transformation surprised many guests, who assumed I had changed dresses entirely, while allowing two distinct looks from a single custom design. VENDOR LOVE: Bringing a winter mountaintop wedding to life required an exceptional team, and every vendor played an important role in creating the day. Harry George Weddings thoughtfully coordinated each detail, while the team at Mount Norquay seamlessly managed the unique logistics of a chairlift-accessed celebration. From the lift operators and venue staff to each creative partner involved, we were struck by the genuine care and enthusiasm surrounding them. Looking back, we remember not only how beautiful the day was, but how deeply supported we felt by the people who helped bring it to life.
