Hello Darling! I believe with all my heart that if you decide to work towards your dreams, no matter how grand, nothing is impossible. We will be coming up on five years this January that Rocky Mountain Bride has been ours. I still remember those first few weeks dreaming of what it could become with the other half of RMB, Erika. We jumped in 100% towards that dream of being storytellers for the allure and beauty of the Rockies, wanting to reach far beyond these mountains to brides everywhere. Through milestones, setbacks, lessons learned and immense growth, we never lost sight of our bright dream. One of the greatest moments in this journey has been each beautiful face to the right. Their love, dedication and belief in our dream has been the strongest motivation for us. The pride we have for our vibrant team goes beyond work standards - we are family in every sense. I now sit at my desk trying to put into words what it means to reach that dream and see it shine bright before you. The best description I can give is this beautiful magazine, that for the first time, will be on newsstands from coast-to-coast. National reach for this region we love and a dream come true. Each page is filled with talented vendors, breathtaking vistas and love stories that capture the romance of this place. the experience I am a Rocky Mountain Bride living in Idaho, born and raised in Montana. Lauren + Ryan edmonton
Lauren and Ryan met one night celebrating a good friend’s birthday. They hit it off and danced the night away. The next morning, Ryan called Lauren and asked her out to breakfast. She declined as she could easily pick up on his eagerness. Thankfully, Ryan took a chance on round two and convinced Lauren to have dinner with him. Their chemistry sparked that night over awkward laughter and borscht. That was just the beginning! The couple fell in love over good food, traveling, thunderstorms, dogs and a series of memorable moments. In April of 2017, Lauren and Ryan took off for a San Diego getaway, just the two of them. They set aside one day for beach time at La Jolla. That morning Ryan got dressed and put a ring box in the front pocket of his slim fit jeans. Lauren couldn’t help but notice the square bulge in his pants the entire day, yet she kept to herself and acted like she had no idea what was going on! As the sun settled below the endless, California sea, Ryan led Lauren to a nearby rock cove, got down on knee and asked Lauren to be his wife. Without a doubt she said, “Yes!” They planned an intimate and simply stunning wedding for September 2nd in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Common’s exposed, brick walls, long marble tables and gold accents set the scene for their dream day. Warmth, good conversation and fun filled the open spaces. The couple said, “I do!” just how they always envisioned, surrounded by the people they love the most.
details from the heart “My favorite details are the ones with most meaning: the table numbers my aunt hand-lettered, the smell of the eucalyptus in my flowers, the signage that was created by my cousin, the photos hung by my sister-in-laws and my mother’s wedding purse that I carried with me all day. So many people came together to make our wedding special, and those are the small things I will always remember.”

The newlywed’s family and friends were treated to an elevated menu crafted by The Common. A buffet was prepared offering pan roasted hangar steak, seared cod and scallops, chicken, gnocchi, pork belly and more. Dessert was served family style featuring ice cream sandwiches and fruit and flower tarts. All washed down with lavender gin fizzes, old fashioneds and local craft beer!

Lauren and Ben knew of one another at a young age as they both swam competitively. Lauren crushed on Ben from afar, yet he never made a move until years later. Ben finally built up the courage to ask Lauren out over Facebook. Completely giddy, she agreed. They met at the pool for their first official date and have been together since! In April of 2017, the couple took off for a spring getaway in wine country, Naramata, BC. After a full day of wine tasting, bike rides and games with friends, Ben popped the question and pulled out a ring. Delighted Lauren said, “Yes!� They kept the news to themselves for the weekend and snuck off to a private bed and breakfast to celebrate. Lauren and Ben planned a laid back, summer wedding in Whistler for June 30th.

Alex and Mark found young love on their co-ed dorm floor at University of Colorado at Boulder nearly ten years ago. The couple dated their freshman year, yet parted ways to follow their own adventures. Alex traveled abroad while Mark completed engineering school. Four years later, Mark’s younger sister in Los Angeles, Nina, brought the two back together. They like to joke that Nina “parent trapped” them! Long distance dating led to a shared city, a dog and eventually a ring. In 2016 Alex, Mark and his family traveled to their cabin on Lake Bertha in Minnesota to celebrate his grandparents’ 60th anniversary. The morning of, Alex couldn’t help but notice that Mark was not eating his breakfast and seemed nervous. However, she didn’t think much of it as she is a “type a person” and not many secrets sneak past her! Sure enough, Mark asked Alex to be his wife on an intimate paddle boarding trip around the lake. Although neither of them remember what was said in the moment and Mark almost dropped the ring, Alex said, “Yes!” They planned an urban, fall celebration in the Mile High City for October 14th.

a local taste Denver’s local beer and food scene truly shined through at Alex and Mark’s reception. Better yet, the groom brewed the beer! Mark crafted six brews for their guests to enjoy while Alex and her girlfriends named them. A true nod to labor and love! For hors d’ouvres and dinner, the couple worked with Brittany Dosdall of Catering By Design to craft their perfect menu. A charcuterie board featuring local butchers and farmers was passed around during happy hour while seasonal dishes were offered for a warm and slow meal in Moss that evening. For a night cap, the pair’s favorite late night bites were served such as fries, mac and cheese and pizza. Our kind of party!

Mia and Danny met in the fifth grade. In fact, Danny was Mia’s first boyfriend! Although Danny broke it off when they started middle school, the two remained close friends. Danny even asked Mia to high school prom. She denied, of course, to punish him for breaking her heart years ago! Regardless of their history, rare chemistry remained. After graduation, Mia moved to California for fashion design school. Although she adored her experience and career, there was something almost unexplainable that was calling her home. One year, while Mia returned home to Sun Valley for the holidays, they reconnected. Sparks flew, Mia moved back home and they started dating almost immediately. It didn’t take long for Danny to realize that he could never let Mia go again. On a spring day in May, the couple took a break from packing for a family vacation to Hawaii and took the dogs on a hike. As they reached the ridge, Danny pulled a ring out of his pocket and asked Mia to marry him. Completely shocked, she said, “Yes!” They planned a simple, yet formal wedding on a family friend’s barley farm for June 23rd.

a designer’s dilemma
As a designer, Mia was sure that she knew what she wanted when it came to a wedding dress. Her and her mom just so happened to be in NYC at the same time and used the day as an excuse to shop for “the one” together. Sure enough, the hunt was a lot harder than she could have ever imagined. Coming out of the city empty handed, she explored other options. Months later, her and her girlfriends road tripped to Salt Lake City and came across the quaint shop, Harlow Brides. Everyone held back tears as she slipped on the flowy and fabulous, Elizabeth Dye gown. Paired with a custom, denim jacket and studded black boots, Mia had found her perfect fit.

when i set my eyes on you “I was beyond nervous the morning of the wedding as I’m not used to being the center of attention. I am more of the introverted one in the relationship while Danny is the life of the party. Doing a first look before the ceremony was one of the best decisions we made all day. Once I was able to see him, the excitement took over the nerves. All of the attention on ‘me’ turned into ‘we,’ and I immediately felt calm. It may sound cliché, but the rest of the day, especially the ceremony, felt like it was just Danny and I.”

Mia and Danny envisioned a minimalistic and modern theme for their wedding day with just the perfect touch of Ida-home. With endless fields of barley and a classic, red barn, they made the look their own by incorporating a color palette of black, creams and greenery. A formal, black tie dress code transformed this rustic event to a luxe soirée. More importantly, everything had a purpose.

Mimi and Zach met through the greek system at Arizona State University. At first Mimi never gave their connection a second thought as Zach, nicknamed “Jazzy”, was older and very confident in who he was. Yet, it didn’t take long for the two of them to match up. There was no particular date or day that their love story sparked. Mimi and Jazzy were inseparable, and everyone knew it. The couple dated for six years before making things official. In May of 2016, they signed the mortgage to their current house and headed North to Montana to celebrate with a camping trip with Zach’s family. One afternoon in the woods, on a spring hike to Memorial Falls, Zach got down on one knee and asked Mimi to be his bride. Swept off her feet she said, “Yes!” They planned an elegant wedding with the sweetest rustic touch in Whitefish for July 21st.

She gave the short sleeved, lace dress a chance and fell madly in love. It was dramatically different yet elegant with an open back and exposed shoulders. Mimi felt like herself and knew Zach wouldn’t be able to take his eyes off of her.

It was a quiet time made for just the two of us on our wedding day. ‘H.O.L.Y’ from Florida Georgia Line, a special song to us, came on as we held each other in front of the camera. Just then, Zach pulled me close and started to sway. I started crying immediately. You see, Zach has never been much of a dancer, and I questioned whether or not we would share that once-in-a-lifetime experience as newlyweds. As we danced back and forth on the dock he whispered in my ear, ‘I promised you I would dance on our wedding day.’ In that moment I knew that he was vowing to always meet me halfway.”

Four years ago, Meg was hired on as a nanny by the sweetest family in NYC. At the time she would have never guessed that she would fall for her boss’ best friend, Cheney. The two quickly came to find that they dwelled in the same Harlem Brownstone. Ongoing construction and awkward, mutual connections didn’t stand a chance against their undenying chemistry. Meg and “Uncle Cheney” finally confessed their crushes and received the official okay by the family and kids. From then on, the couple hit the ground running and never stopped. In the fall of 2016, Cheney asked for Meg’s parents’ blessing and invited them out to the city to be a part of the proposal. One afternoon he led Meg to the Urban Garden Center under the train tracks in their neighborhood - where they shared their first date. Upon entering, one of Cheney’s songs from his band came on in the shop. Cheney played it off as a fluke and the two kept plant shopping till they were in a more private part of the garden. Cheney took Meg’s hand, a ring out of his pocket and asked her to marry him. Of course, she said “Yes!”, and they spent the night gathered around family and friends. Meg and Cheney planned a Southwestern wedding rooted in community at the beautiful Ghost Ranch for August 11th.

Their modern, Southwestern inspired wedding was filled with local finds and native traditions. From sourcing and planting succulents, to Cheney building the ceremony backdrop and all the little details in-between, their day was filled with handcrafted memories and elements customized to their love story.

Erin + Marshall zion
Erin and Marshall met two years ago in Zion National Park at Observation Point overlooking the valley. If that’s not epic enough, just wait! You see, both were on individual soul searching trips to the park. Erin was with her girlfriend Anji, and Marshall was on a camping trip alone. That fall day, Erin, Anji and Marshall just so happened to hike observation point at the exact same time. As the girls reached the top of the treacherous, four mile hike they crossed paths with a charismatic man in a hat that sparked conversation immediately. After hours of laughter, story telling and endless views at 6,500 ft, the group hiked back down. As they all parted ways, they embraced for a hug and Erin swore that there was something oddly familiar and comforting about Marshall. He asked for her number, but she didn’t think much of it as she assumed she would never see him again. Sure enough, a text chain quickly turned into Marshall driving out to Southern California to run a half marathon with Erin for their first date. Chalk up the rest to the power of timing and the universe’s divine intervention. In January of 2018, Marshall proposed to Erin at home, over dinner with friends, with a wooden ring that he carved himself! The moment was simple and heartfelt - just like their relationship. They planned a October sunrise elopement in Zion National Park where they met two years ago.

“The first look was exactly what I wanted it to be, full of uncontrollable shivers (from the cold), tears of love, and kisses and laughs. She is beautiful. So beautiful I didn’t even look away and enjoy the sunrise view. It must have been pretty sweet judging by the comments spewing from The Hearnes as they took photographs. It was so fun, and having them there capturing the moment allowed us to just be present. Abbi and Callen directed the show from there on. They had the experience and vision and all we had to do was enjoy. Ted, a marriage family therapist, my best friend, best man and minster blew us away with his ceremony. His words were poetic and carefully crafted, delivering many heartfelt tears. I was proud to be his friend. And Erin, she just radiated. I couldn’t take my eyes off her. I couldn’t and still can’t believe she chose me. We know relationships take effort. You get what you put in, and we’re both so grateful to have found a partner who prioritizes our relationship above all else.”
newlywed bliss “All I had thought about was the actual getting married part of the day, not realizing that I was also going to be partaking in the best hike of my life. We hiked down the mountain wearing our dress clothes to stop and take pictures along the way. But, it turned out to be much more fun than a photoshoot. I’ve always smiled and said hi to people on hikes. Sometimes they don’t respond, and sometimes it strikes up a conversation and you end up marrying that person two years later. That day, everyone smiled back and said hi. It was like Erin and I were given a magic wand that could instantly brighten up their day. It was four hours of meeting and celebrating with strangers who had lovely energy, stories and advice to share. I mean it was so fun, you should have seen some of the looks we got. Erin, she’s a show stopper already, but in that dress on a hike that difficult, it was hilarious!”

Meghan and Patrick met two years ago at the hospital they both work at in Danbury, Connecticut. Meghan admired Patrick from day one, but never found an opportunity to get to know him on a deeper level until he took care of her aunt a few months later. As for Patrick.. he knew he was going to make Meghan his bride the first time he met her. Despite long and awkward hours, they fell in love. A year later, Meghan and Patrick’s parents met them in Vermont, where Patrick was living at the time, for a fall getaway. That night Patrick reserved tickets for a sunset cruise around the beautiful Lake Champlain. Before setting sail, their parents adventured off to “purchase tickets” while Patrick led Meghan down to the fishing dock. Just then he turned to Meghan, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Completely smitten, she said, “Yes!” Celebratory champagne and a romantic ride around the lake with the group quickly followed. Meghan(mostly!) and Patrick planned an intimate, destination wedding in Jackson Hole for June 21st.

below the tetons “We wanted nothing more than an authentic, Jackson experience and to do what we wanted on our wedding day. The night before, our family and friends met us in downtown Jackson where we had dinner and capped off the night at the local rodeo. Although our guests were coming from all over the country, everyone bonded. Kids chased the sheep and, better yet, several of our guests bought a cowboy hat to wear the next day with their wedding attire. There was nothing ceremonious about the weekend. Everyone united and came together for a simple gathering in a wonderful place below one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world. It was exactly what we envisioned and truly how we were meant to begin the rest of our lives. Then again, since we’ve been together, the right things have happened at the right times.”

wyoming weather Growing up in Utah and visiting Jackson often growing up, Patrick understood the unpredictable weather of the Rocky Mountains. He warned Meghan and her mother that storms tend to come through in the summer afternoons, but not to worry because it always clears up! Sure enough, upon their arrival in mid-‐June, the weather was horrible. It was foggy and rainy, then foggy and rainy again. It was so nasty that Diamond Cross Ranch, the working dude ranch, had two to three inches of water on the lawn! Terrified but hopeful, the couple stayed positive. The morning of their wedding, Meghan’s Dad woke her up and led her over to the window where she was greeted by blue skies and her first, full view of the Tetons. Right then, the couple knew it was going to be a great day to say “I Do”.

We wanted elevated, comfort food that represented the community and region. For cocktail hour, Café Genevieve prepared the most delicious mac & cheese and mashed potato bar. Beef tenderloin and duck confit, French stew were served for dinner. To end the night our guests roasted marshmallows for s’mores over an open fire under the stars.”

“During our first look above Peyto Lake, I felt calm and excited to see my future wife. The experience was surreal and overwhelming. After turning around, I remember kissing my wife and feeling her familiar warmth on a rather chilly day. The sun was out, but still. Jenny’s smile made me fall in love with her all over again, and that has been the feeling since we got married all those weeks ago. We live our day-to-day tied down with work, family and friends. This day was just for us, it brought us closer to each other. We are very fortunate people and this experience has changed us in the best way possible.”

Cloudcroft, New Mexico “The mountains have always been a special place for us. Chris and I love hunting together and have for several years. Upon my homecoming from basic training last year, I had an elk tag for unit 34, Cloudcroft. The perfect excuse for hiding out in the mountains for a week.That trip, the existing sparks between Chris and I turned into flames. I never would have guessed that we would be engaged to be married the following year.When our photo session came up, Chris and I knew it would be special to revisit Cloudcroft.To our surprise our amazing photographer led us just down the road from our last, romantic camping site. From the location to the fresh snowfall that day, the entire experience was a dream come true.�

Fate brought Colton to Kelsey’s hometown of Cheyenne, Wyoming nearly five years ago. You see, Colton was stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, and it didn’t take long for small town romance to bring them together. The couple dated for four years before Colton knew he had to make Kelsey his wife. On one snowy, Saturday morning, they woke up slow and headed to the local dog park with their three beloved pups like any other weekend. Little did Kelsey know that this dog park date would change her life forever. After walking along the frost bitten landscape, Colton layed down a blanket for the two of them. He snuggled Kelsey in close, pulled a fresh tennis ball from his pocket and insisted she played fetch with the dogs. With cold hands she finally agreed. After a few throws she noticed words written on the tennis ball, “Will you marry me?” Kelsey looked up teary-eyed only to find Colton down on one knee. She said, “Yes!” with plenty of puppy kisses to follow. The two planned an winter elopement in the heart of Jackson Hole for March 21st.

winter wonderland “After countless hours of wedding planning, we realized that a big, traditional wedding just wasn’t meant for us. Not only was spending thousands of dollars unrealistic, but we came to the consensus that doing what we wanted was far more important than what everyone expected of us on our wedding day. We ultimately decided on a snowy winter celebration under the Tetons with our closest family and friends. Even though people were shocked by our decision and feared the conditions, Colton and I reveled in it. We have always been inspired by the unordinary, and the thought of having a wedding that no one else would dare to dream up intrigued us.”

He became an ordained minister within two weeks. It meant so much to Kelsey and Colton to have him lead and guide the rest of their lives together in such a personal, wise way.
