inside scoop AREA INFO Boise, the self-proclaimed city you would want to have a beer with, is both vibrant and rustic in nature. It is the perfect Rocky Mountain destination for those wanting the feel of the city while still maintaining a mountain-filled wedding day. Boise’s close proximity to the mountains, river and hundreds of trails with over 100 world-class dining establishments means that wedding guests, from outdoor enthusiasts to those unsure about venturing from the city, will be entertained during your wedding weekend. Venues range from chic downtown event centers to quiet riverfront country lodges to fit any dream wedding day vision.
Fast Facts Elevation: 2,730’ Population: 764,718 Boise has 210 days of sunshine a year. “The Blue” is Boise State University’s blue turf colored field - the first non-green field in American football. Boise is nicknamed The City of Trees.
HOW TO GET THERE With service from almost every major airline, the Boise Airport is only four miles from the the heart of downtown Boise. Direct flights are offered from almost every major hub, including: Denver, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Houston and Atlanta. With its close proximity to downtown, you’ll most likely not need a rental car to get around the city, but instead can use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft.

Boise, a city with all four seasons, tends to be most temperate in the months of May, June and September. Thanks to the high desert climate, the days are hot and evenings are cool in the summer. Prepare your guests for unpredictable weather in the summer when afternoon rain showers are more prevalent. While the surrounding foothills remain snow capped throughout the winter, the city’s snow does not last long in the winter thanks to the temperate climate. Like most of the Rocky Mountain regions, summer and fall are generally the best times to visit Boise. When planning your wedding, make sure guests are well prepared for varying temperatures no matter the time of year.

MAKE IT OFFICIAL If you are getting married in Idaho, you can apply for a marriage license from any county in Idaho regardless of the county in which the ceremony will take place. In Ada County, couples are welcome to schedule an appointment to come in and pick up their license, or they are able to walk in any weekday between the hours of 8am and 5pm. Both parties are required to fill out a marriage affidavit in person and pay the $30 marriage license fee through cash or check only.

Aspen + Samuel
Aspen and Samuel’s first meeting was in high school, and they dated for six years before getting engaged on the rooftop of Barbacoa Grill. Their chic, downtown engagements took place at the Boise Capitol Building. The Capitol Building, with its breathtaking marble and gold accents, was the perfect backdrop for Aspen’s simple white blazer dress and Samuel’s classic black tux. Madi Curl, known for capturing the real, raw and beautiful in-between moments, documented the next chapter of Aspen and Samuel’s love story with an air of comfortability and ease. Aspen and Samuel are planning a simple backyard wedding in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho with their closest friends and family in attendance.

Jillian + Tyler
Jillian and Tyler both attended San Diego State University’s physical therapy program, which was where they originally met. They became good friends over their shared love of roller skating, cooking, music and fitness. Their friendship grew until, one day, they realized they wanted to continue enjoying those activities with each other and they decided to start dating. Two years later, Tyler surprised Jillian by bringing her to a roller rink in San Diego where he planned the rink to play their song, “Fall in Love Alone,” by Stacy Ryan. He popped the question in front of Jillian’s closest friends and cousins. Thanks to their shared love of roller skating, it was only fitting that Jillian and Tyler’s engagement shoot with Good Earth Photo mainly featured this love. The two are planning a wedding at Seda Lio El Nido, a resort in Palawan, Philippines.

A dreamy landscape of pinks, whites, tans and mixed greens were the colors behind the inspiration for this southern magnolia groves meets Idaho gardens styled shoot. Dreamer Events wanted to bring southern charm to southwest Idaho. From the dreamy florals by Petal Works Design Studio to the soft lace dress from B.B. Bridal, this styled shoot is dripping in ethereal beauty. The soft pink invitation suite by Bee and Bungalow and lush green backdrop at 1st Miracle all add to the magic of the day captured by Lionlady Photo & Video.

The tablescape, thoughtfully decorated with pops of pink thanks to linens from Creative Coverings and specialty rentals by The Little Gem Co. Details, adds to the quiet luxury theme of this styled shoot. The femininity of the florals combined with the classical elegance of the table and chair rentals, provided by Blush Creek Specialty Rentals, bring together Dreamer Events’ vision of creating a little slice of the south in Boise.

REAL WEDDINGS

ALIX + DAVID Alix and David met over a dirty martini. Alix was bartending at the Gathering Place, a local bar in Eagle, when David asked her to make him a dirty martini. She didn’t actually know how to bartend and it was a dive bar! Needless to say, the martini was awful, so David asked if could make Alix a proper martini and set up their first date. Alix claims she’s still waiting on that dirty martini. David popped the question four years later during a game of white elephant at their annual Christmas party.
Their wedding day at Stone Crossing was nothing short of perfect, thanks to Alix’s keen attention to detail. Alix and David’s day was classically styled with personal touches as a nod to Alix and David’s relationship. While the planning was stressful for Alix and David, they both enjoyed putting together a wedding day that was authentically them. The most memorable moment of the day was when they were standing at the altar sharing vows that solidified their love for each other, and it felt as though they were the only two people in the world; when in reality, there were 180 guests sharing the special moment with them.

CORRIE + IVAN Corrie and Ivan were originally introduced at church. They did a two year internship program together through their church where they became close friends. Their love story blossomed over the next few years before Ivan proposed. Ivan planned the proposal at a place that was special to them both. He told Corrie they were to attend a formal party with his coworkers and asked to stop and take some film pictures on their way to the party. This was not out of the ordinary for Corrie because Ivan is a talented film photographer, so as they walked along the trail, Corrie was shocked to see a beautiful arrangement of flowers and blankets. Ivan got down on one knee and popped the question as the perfect end to a perfect day.

“My favorite part of the day was the speeches. We opened it up to whoever wanted to share, as it was such a small setting, and I felt as though that was one of the most beautiful moments with our family to solidify the love we all have for each other.”
Corrie and Ivan’s wedding day at TRICA was intentionally small; with only family members and two close friends in attendance. They planned their day thoughtfully with minimalism and elegance in mind. Thanks to the small guest list, Corrie and Ivan were able to celebrate their love with those who have walked with them through the highs and lows of life. Earth tones in the floral arrangements by Rust + Thistle and a delicately designed tablescape with specialty rentals from The Little Gem Co. Details and Flying China all brought together Corrie and Ivan’s wedding day vision.

Kayla and Robert met working together at a coffee shop. Robert had just moved from Illinois, and Kayla handed him his first coffee in Idaho. It took four years of friendship to realize they belong together as a couple. Three and half years after they started dating, Kayla and Robert tied the knot on a sunny September day at Indian Creek Winery.

Their relationship only grew stronger through wedding planning as Robert let Kayla plan her dream garden party wedding as long as there would be an epic dance floor and tacos. Indian Creek Winery is special to them as a couple and was the perfect backdrop for the magical garden of flowers Kayla worked with Rust + Thistle to create. Kayla and Robert knew they wanted to throw the party of the century for their friends and family, which was exactly what happened during their reception. From dancing to “Mr. Brightside” by the Killers to Kayla’s mom and aunts singing “Super Trooper” by Abba, every single guest made their way to the dance floor to celebrate Kayla and Robert’s love.

“The whole day was the most blissful, straight out of a fairytale feeling. Normally people tell you about how stressed they are on their wedding day, but I’ve never felt more euphoric in my life. As I walked down the aisle, there were birds chirping and butterflies flying all around us. It was breathtaking, and at that that moment I just remembered thinking, ‘I finally get to marry you.’”
