Adventuring amongst golden trees, up on mountain peaks overlooking blue lakes all under an overcast, chilly sky: this is what Autumn will always mean to me as I celebrated my own wedding this past September in Breckenridge. It reminded me of the lessons that this sweet season offers us if we are paying attention. Something changes deep within once the air becomes a little more crisp and the colors begin to make their graceful appearance along the sloping mountainsides. It’s hard to put a finger on it, but it’s what I wait

for each year, a turning in of sorts. Autumn in Colorado is such a fleeting, quietly exquisite season. Katelyn + Kyle crested butte
Katelyn and Kyle met at a mutual friend’s college party while attending Colorado State University. Later that night, the group went to Rec Room, a local Fort Collins dive bar, where Kyle accidentally poured a full glass of Jack and Coke onto Katelyn’s white pants. His persistent apologies worked. Four years later, the couple decided to take an October vacation, visiting London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Bruges and ending in Paris. On the second day in London, while walking around Kensington’s Palace, within the Sunken Gardens, Kyle got down on one knee and proposed.

Maggie + Patrick morrison
Fate definitely had a hand in Maggie and Patrick’s meeting. Just three days after moving to Denver to pursue her doctorate in physical therapy, Maggie spotted Patrick on a crowded rooftop in downtown Denver. There was an instant connection that went from dancing to a first date to forever. Three years later, on a family trip to Lake Tahoe, Patrick dropped the hint he would like to take a hike, but he made sure not to make a big deal of it in order to keep the proposal a surprise. Mid-way through the hike, Maggie’s parents stopped to take some pictures of the group. When it was Maggie and Patrick’s turn for their picture, Patrick got down on one knee in front of Maggie’s family and asked her to be his forever, which she of course said, “Yes!” Maggie and Patrick planned a rustic and whimsical mountain wedding for June 29th in Morrison, Colorado.

Evan + Paul crested butte
Evan and Paul grew up in Texas where they attended school together a few grades apart. They crossed paths with family friends and built a friendship through Evan’s parents’ annual wiffle ball tournament. Several hundred people would come out to the family’s property and have a full day of food, fun and most importantlywiffle ball. Both eventually ended up at Lamar University where they “re-met” on campus in 2015. Rachel, Paul’s sister, successfully set up a “hang out” at the wiffle ball tournament, and it didn’t take long for the two to notice how much fun they had together. Not a week later, Paul told Evan he was sure he’d marry her one day.

“Our first summer dating, we spent two months living in Crested Butte, Colorado where we really fell in love with each other. Instead of having a wedding at a venue we probably wouldn’t return to, we decided to do it in a place that was meaningful to us and our families. It was also fun to think about getting to show our kids where we got married.”

Amy and Ritchie’s love story began as co-workers at an architecture office before blossoming into the start of forever together. Over the next decade, the pair grew in their love of each other as well as their love of travel, especially US National Parks! On one of their adventures to our neighbors to the north in Canada, Amy and Ritchie hiked to Gros Morne Mountain in Newfoundland. After eight hours and a 2,648-foot assent, the duo stopped to take in the vast beauty of the landscape as a reward for their hard work. Here Ritchie got down on one knee and asked Amy to be his forever, and she excitedly said, “Yes!” They finished their trip as an engaged couple heading to St. John’s and Fogo Island. Amy and Ritchie planned a modern yet organic wedding for May 4.

The couple’s love of National Parks and exploring drew them to a venue which was unique and unexpected to Colorado as well as close to Arches National Park in Utah. “We love many of the US National Parks and have visited many together. We were looking for the right resort that was convenient for all of our guests that would allow them to explore some of the parks as well as the beauty of other areas on the way to the resort or while there.”

LOADS OF FUN Instead of a first dance, Amy and Ritchie opted to saber a bottle of champagne to truly kick off the party! When the reception ended, the fun didn’t stop as guests headed to the after party for karaoke.

Rachel + Brian estes park
Just 5 months before graduating from the University of Wyoming, Rachel and Brian’s paths finally crossed when playing on a co-ed intramural basketball team. After graduation the pair went their separate ways with Rachel moving to Colorado and Brian to Montana. Despite the distance, they decided their connection was something special and continued to date. After 6 years of dating, more moves and adventures, Brian knew Rachel was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. One average day on their daily nightly walks with their dog, Brian started to reminisce about their relationship and thanked Rachel for being his number one supporter. Then suddenly, he pulled her into a little park, got down on one knee and popped the question! Rachel was so shocked her initial response was “Are you sure?” but quickly followed it up with happy tears and an excited “Yes!” Brian and Rachel planned their rustic, elegant wedding in Estes Park for August 31st.

Deana + Matt larkspur
A dating app may have brought Deana & Matt together, but the couple’s faith and perseverance kept them together. Despite their very busy schedules, the pair found time to meet for many sweet dates like ice skating, sledding and breakfast hangouts. While their time might have been fleeting when Matt moved to Kansas for work, it was the moment Deana knew Matt was her future husband. During a girls trip to a local nature preserve, Deana was posing for a picture when her friend told her to turn around. To Deana’s absolutely shock, there was Matt holding a red rose and on one knee. It took Deana a moment to fully comprehend what was happening because Matt had told her he was in Las Vegas with his dad. Once she realized he was actually there and proposing, she excitedly said, “Yes!” Deana and Matt planned a simple and snowy destination wedding in Larkspur for January 11th.

Julie + Juan elopement
While Julie and Juan had a few friends in common, it took a chance meeting at a tennis club for them to finally connect. While they didn’t speak a single word to each other on that first day, there was an instant spark. A few days later, Julie received a text from Juan, and so they say the rest is history! For eight years, the couple’s love grew and transformed as they moved from Colombia to the United States.

Juan knew Julie was the one, and he wanted to plan an extra special proposal to show her how much he truly loved her. Juan planned a surprise trip to New York City, and Julie didn’t even know where they were going until they arrived at the airport gate! They spent a day exploring the city before Juan dropped the next surprise - a private yacht tour of the Hudson River. As the sun set across the water, the pair reminisced about their relationship and the love they share for each other. With the Brooklyn Bridge in the background, Juan asked Julie to be his wife, and she very excitedly exclaimed, “Yes!”
