Your business/organization can support the members by purchasing a market steer at the sale. If you are unsure of what you can do with your steer, here are a few options:
1. The 4-H clubs are ready to provide the transportation of the steers to the destination of your choice, at no extra cost
2. For your convenience, the Rocky 4-H Beef Show and Sale Committee has multiple spots booked at local abattoirs for slaughter and processing and will provide delivery of your steer to the processor.
3. There will also be a buy back program available for your purchased steer. The steer will be sent to the next local live auction sale. Please check auction reports for potential pricing. The buyback value will be the difference between the live auction sale price and the 4-H sale price. (ie) If the 4-H sale price is $3/lb on a 1200lb steer , the cost is $3600. If the sale price at a local live auction is $2.00/lbs then the buyback purchaser will receive $2400 with he auction sale, brand inspection and fees deducted from the live auction sale price. 4. You could donate it to the local food bank.

Hello! my name is Katie Berg and I am part of the Rocky South 4-H beef club. This will be my 3rd year as a Junior Member in 4-H as of 2026. My heifer this year is Nugget, she started out a little difficult to work with, but she has come around to love her pets, straw and grain. When I’m not doing my 4-H chores
Hi my name is Andromeda Cochran, My heifer's name is Chiclet. She is an angus Charolais cross. She is very sweet tempered. This is my 3rd year in Rocky North 4
Layne took on his first heifer project this year with his Black Angus heifer, Nutmeg. He jumped in with both boots on learning feeding, halter breaking, and daily care along the way. Nutmeg kept him on his toes at times, but Layne stuck with it and gained confidence in the pen and in the ring. He’s proud of the progress they made as a team and is looking forward to growing his skills in future 4-H projects.
LAYNE MEHLHAFF
This is Butterscotch. She is a Charolais x Maine Anjou x Complete Sweetheart! This is her first year being in 4 H. She is the sweetest heifer. She is a tan heifer with a white patch around her belly, which makes her extra cute. I hope to take her to a few shows this year and work on my showmanship and grooming more. I like showing cows because they are fun to show and I am really learning to work hard! Butterscotch has good confirmation which is what made me take a look at her. She is from Sheena Jones Livestock. I am glad she is not a steer so I do not have to sell her!
CHLOE ROBERTSON
McKenzie’s first heifer project featured her Black Angus heifer, Nutella, and the pair made quite the team. With a little sass from both sides, McKenzie put in the work learning daily care, grooming, and showmanship. She especially enjoyed the time spent in the pen building a connection with Nutella, which showed in the ring. McKenzie is proud of her hard work this year and excited to continue improving in future projects.
My name is Annesly Ogilvie and this is my heifer Missy, she is a lovely calm heifer and I think she will make a great cow/mom next year. She has a lot of hair and she will be my second 4-H cow and a lovely cow to add to my herd. I picked her because she is a sister to my heifer from last year. She is also very nicely built. I cannot wait to show her at the show this year and I hope to see you there at the Kurt Browning Arena May 23.
