Pritzker tours storm damage, signs flood relief bill expanding local Chicago programs By Ben Szalinski

Capitol News Illinois bszalinski@capitolnewsillinois.com

Gov. JB Pritzker signed a bill on Friday that allows more Chicago homeowners to access financial relief for flood damage locally while many communities in the state cleaned up from damaging storms. Pritzker signed Senate Bill 3925, which allows home equity assurance programs to establish a temporary three-year rebate program that certain Chicago homeowners can tap into to repair flood damage. The state law says municipalities must have at least 1 million residents to create such a district, meaning only Chicago qualifies. There are two such programs within the city — one known as the Northwest Home Equity Program, the other the Southwest Home Equity Program — that are created by state law but governed by local commissions and funded by special property taxes levied within the districts. Eligible homeowners who live within the districts can apply to be reimbursed for half of their flood remediation costs up to $1,000. The legislation was passed in response to significant flooding on the Southwest Side of Chicago last summer. The federal government denied Illinois’ request for disaster assistance following the event, leaving many homeowners short on financial resources. “The Trump administration turned their back,” Pritzker said at a news conference in Chicago before signing the bill. “Relief for Illinois families whose homes were damaged by severe storms, crucial assistance that could have helped them rebuild their homes and their lives, was denied.” Pritzker characterized the legislation as the latest example of the state trying to fill gaps while federal programs, ranging from disaster relief to food and healthcare assistance, are reduced. The governor said he hopes financial help from home equity assurance programs will provide residents short-term money to make repairs and long-term financial “breathing room.” “On your worst day, when the rain’s falling and everyone has that anxiety and apprehension, that’s exactly the time government needs to show up,” Sen. Mike Porfirio, D-La Grange, said. “That’s exactly the time government needs to show people that they care, that they get it, that they’re going to bring them real relief.” Pritzker signed the bill as communi-

ties across the state deal with another round of severe storms that have brought tornadoes, wind damage and flooding. It’s the latest in a long list of damaging weather events in Illinois this year and the state has now recorded more than 200 tornadoes in 2026. Only Texas, with a significantly larger landmass, has recorded that many in one year. On Aug. 11, a storm brought tornadoes and wind gusts approaching 100 mph to southern Cook County and Will County, according to the National Weather Service. Many of those same communities were slammed by tornadoes and high winds on July 27 and were still recovering. Pritzker toured storm damage in Lansing on Friday afternoon where tree limbs were still scattered throughout the community, and some areas remained without power. More storms on Thursday brought significant wind damage to McLean C o u n t y, w h e r e t h e N o r m a l F i r e Department said it set a new record for most calls during a 24-hour shift. And Friday as Pritzker signed the bill, many communities in central Illinois reported flooding from another round of storms.

Political disaster

With the November election less than three months away, the state’s response to natural disasters has become part of Republican Darren Bailey’s campaign for governor. Bailey and his running mate, Aaron Del Mar, visited communities in the south suburbs on Thursday and said Pritzker’s response to recent storms has been inadequate. “Government has been nowhere to be found and that’s probably the single-most important issue that I heard,” Bailey said. T he pa ir cr it ici zed Pr it zker for attending the unveiling of the Illinois State Fair’s butter cow in Springfield on Wednesday instead of touring Cook County communities. “When I show up, it’s helpful, it’s useful for me to see the damage, to speak to people on the ground and businesses on the ground,” Pritzker said Friday. “But we’re quite well aware already, even before I get eyes on, of what the circumstances are. And so, when I show up, what I don’t want to do is interfere.” Bailey also called on Pritzker to form a more collaborative relationship with President Donald Trump. “I’m calling on Gov. Pritzker and President Trump to put aside their

differences and start working together to get relief for these families,” Bailey said. “Illinois should not be caught in the political crossfire simply because these two leaders cannot get along.” A Politico analysis found Democratled states saw just 23% of their disaster requests granted in the first year of Trump’s second term, compared to 89% for their Republican counterparts. Under the past six administrations — including Trump’s first term — states led by either party saw similar rates of approval, between 70% and 90%. The analysis also found that the administration takes twice as long to issue decisions on requests from blue states. Though Bailey called for Pritzker and Trump to work together, federal disaster relief for this week’s storms would still be far down the line. The state typically conducts damage assessments in partnership with local officials before issuing a disaster declaration — a process that usually takes several days or more. Whether the state declares a disaster often depends on whether the local government needs more resources, meaning rural communities with fewer resources might be more likely to need the state’s help than larger places like Cook County, Pritzker said. Cook County had not issued a disaster declaration for this week’s storms as of midday Friday. A state disaster declaration is “the kickoff of our attempt to get federal money,” Pritzker said. “That’s the signal. We take that document, that disaster declaration, and essentially present it to the federal government, saying, ‘We’ve declared a disaster, it’s time for you to deliver.’ And so it doesn’t need to happen on Day 1.” Pritzker issued an expansive disaster declaration at the end of June for 11 counties, which covered storms between March and June. That disaster declaration was preceded by several local declarations requesting help from the state. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, which often has thresholds states must meet to qualify for disaster aid, isn’t the state’s only option for federal assistance. The U.S. Small Business Administration approved a disaster declaration for Kankakee County following a March tornado. That allows residents and businesses to apply for loans to repair or replace damaged property. Maggie Dougherty contributed from Lansing.

Illinois will not change child vaccine guidelines By Ben Szalinski and The Associated Press

Capitol News Illinois bszalinski@capitolnewsillinois.com

The Illinois Department of Public Health is not adopting new federal child vaccine guidelines and will continue following recommendations by a leading pediatric medical group. President Donald Trump signed an executive order last Monday that calls for giving the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine, better known as MMR, in three separate shots at three different appointments. It also lowers recommendations for several vaccines such as Hepatitis A and B, meningococcal disease, the flu and COVID-19 into recommend for “certain high-risk groups” or “based on shared clinical decision-making” rather than for all children. It advises states to follow what Trump calls the “Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations” and update laws to reflect it. Even as the order calls for revised recommendations, states, not the federal government, have the authority to require vaccinations for schoolchildren. Gov. JB Pritzker said in a statement the

executive order is a “thoughtless piece of paper” that “does not reverse decades of research and scientific evidence about protecting kids.”

American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations

Instead, Illinois will continue following guidelines outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics, which the state’s Immunization Advisory Committee previously unanimously adopted in February. “The Illinois Department of Public Health is committed to ensuring Illinois residents have reliable access to vaccines and guidance supported by the most up-to-date science,” IDPH Director Dr. Sameer Vohra said in a statement. “IDPH will continue to be guided by science and work closely with clinical and community leaders to provide recommendations that allow Illinoisians to make the best choices to keep themselves and their families safe and healthy.” Those guidelines recommend children receive the Hepatitis B series, at least one COVID-19 and flu shot, first dose of MMR and two doses of Hepatitis A by the time

they turn 2. They recommend children receive a second MMR dose between ages 4 and 6 and receive annual flu and COVID shots after turning 2. Vohra said he’s especially concerned about the order calling for splitting the MMR vaccine into multiple visits, which he says is not supported by science. Public health experts have raised concerns that spacing out shots like Trump suggests can lead to an increased risk that children become infected with a vaccine-preventable disease before returning for another visit. Childhood vaccines — and how and when to give them in combination — go through rigorous studies, and safety tracking continues for years as the shots are used. Speaking about the order at the Oval Office on Monday, Trump repeatedly suggested the number or timing of vaccines could play a role in rising rates of autism spectrum disorder, even as scientific consensus and decades of studies have firmly concluded there is no link. Several changes to the childhood vaccine schedule have already been attempted by the Trump administration but have been blocked by a federal judge.

Illinois-specific actions

Illinois has taken several steps since Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. took office and set their sights on changing the nations vaccine policies to conform to their views. Pritzker signed a new state law in December, which allows IDPH to create more of its own vaccine guidelines for Illinoisians. Pritzker signed a similar executive order in September. The law also required state-regulated insurance companies to cover vaccines recommended by IDPH. Federal changes to stop recommending some vaccines made it more likely some insurance companies would stop covering certain shots for people who still wanted them. Szalinski reported from Springfield on Illinois’ actions. The Associated Press contributed reporting on the president’s actions and news conference to this story. Ohio State and Oregon are 1-2 in the AP preseason Top 25, SEC leads conferences with 9 ranked teams By Eric Olson Associated Press

Ohio State and Oregon were 1-2 in The Associated Press Top 25 released Monday, giving the Big Ten Conference the top two teams in the preseason rankings for the first time in 65 years and just the second time ever. The Buckeyes received 40 first-place votes and Oregon received 14 in voting by 69 media members who cover college football. Ohio State will go into a season No. 1 for the ninth time, and first since 2015. The Buckeyes are now tied with Alabama for second-most preseason No. 1 rankings behind Oklahoma’s 10. Oregon has its highest preseason ranking in program history after having opened No. 3 four times. Georgia, Notre Dame and Texas round out the top five. Defending national champion Indiana starts at No. 6 and is followed by Miami, Texas A&M, Mississippi and Oklahoma. Notre Dame received six first-place votes, Indiana got eight and Miami one. This is the first year a conference has held down the top two spots in the preseason poll since Oklahoma and Nebraska of the Big Eight were 1-2 in 1987. The last time the Big Ten had the Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the preseason was 1961, when Iowa and Ohio State topped the poll. The Hawkeyes lost four of their last five games after a 4-0 start and finished that season unranked. The Buckeyes went 8-0-1 and ended the season No. 2 behind unbeaten Alabama. The Big Ten has won three straight College Football Playoff championships (Michigan, Ohio State, Indiana) and will be going for an unprecedented fourth straight national title. This is the fourth consecutive year the Big Ten has had two of the top three teams in the preseason rankings. The Southeastern Conference leads all conferences with nine teams in the preseason Top 25, marking the third straight year it has had at least that many. Five of the top 10 teams are from the SEC for the first time since 2013. Four Big 12 teams are ranked, with conference champion Texas Tech the highest at No. 12. The Atlantic Coast Conference has three ranked teams, with the Hurricanes joined by No. 19 SMU and No. 24 Louisville. There are no Group of Six schools in the Top 25.

Top-ranked Buckeyes

The offense is loaded. Heisman Trophy finalist Julian Sayin was the most accurate passer in the nation by a wide margin last season, Jeremiah Smith leads the nation in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns over the last two years and Bo Jackson is coming off a 1,000-yard rushing season as a freshman. There is little concern about the defense even though eight starters must be replaced for a second straight year. At least six transfers are projected to start or play major roles. Ohio State will get tested early and often. The Buckeyes visit Texas on Sept. 12 and five of their nine conference games are against preseason ranked teams, including at Indiana and against Oregon at home. The Buckeyes have ended a season No. 1 in the AP poll six times (1942, 1954, 1968, 2002, 2014, 2024).

Bulldogs best of the SEC

The beat goes on for Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs. They’re in the preseason top five for the ninth straight year. The two-time defending SEC champion Bulldogs are favored to play in a sixth straight conference title game and appear in the CFP for the sixth time in 10 years. Texas, the preseason No. 1 last year, opens in the top five for the third straight year. No. 8 Texas A&M is in the preseason top 10 for the first time since it was No. 6 in 2022, the year that marked the beginning of the end for coach Jimbo Fisher. Pete Golding’s first full season as Mississippi head coach starts with the No. 9 Rebels in the preseason top 10 for the second time in three years and third

time since 1970. No. 10 Oklahoma is in the preseason top 10 for the first time since 2022, when it was in the Big 12.

What about the Hoosiers?

Indiana is the seventh returning national champion in 40 years, and second in three years, to be ranked outside the top five in the preseason (Michigan went into the 2024 season ranked No. 9 after winning the national title). The Hoosiers became the first team in the modern era to go 16-0, and they return lots of talent and signed a top-10 transfer class. The move from Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 NFL draft pick Fernando Mendoza to TCU transfer Josh Hoover at quarterback apparently put doubts in the minds of voters.

Poll nuggets

— Ohio State will try to become the 12th team to start and finish No. 1 since the AP preseason poll debuted in 1950. The last team to do it was Alabama in 2017. — Notre Dame has its highest preseason ranking since it was No. 2 in 2006. The Fighting Irish, who have a Heisman candidate in quarterback CJ Carr, bring a 10-game winning streak into the season and are still smarting from being left out of the playoff. — Lane Kiffin’s first LSU team is No. 11 after finishing 7-6 and unranked under Brian Kelly and Frank Wilson. — Ten of the 12 CFP teams last season are ranked. The two that aren’t are James Madison and Tulane from the Group of Six. — No. 23 Houston has its first preseason ranking in four years and third since 1991.

Middle East

Top US commander visits aircraft carrier, Gaza talks in Egypt and other Mideast news By The Associated Press Associated Press

The top U.S. military commander in the Middle East praised the leadership of the long-deployed USS Lincoln after visiting the sailors on the vessel during a regional tour that ended on Saturday, the U.S. Central Command said. U.S. negotiator Jared Kushner had a rare meeting with the Hamas leader on the Gaza ceasefire. And the 60-day negotiating period that began with the June 17 signing of an interim agreement between the U.S. and Iran is set to end with no word of an extension. Here’s a look at the latest developments on Sunday in the Iran war and the wider Middle East. Full coverage can be found here.

US Central Command chief visits aircraft carrier

Adm. Brad Cooper visited the USS Lincoln as reports have emerged of mental health and supply issues. The Lincoln arrived in the Middle East in January and has been supporting the U.S. war against Iran, including the blockade on Iranian ports. It has spent a record-setting uninterrupted time at sea of more than 240 days. “History will record this deployment as one of the most operationally intense and consequential of the modern era,” Cooper said of the Lincoln strike group in a statement released Saturday. Extended deployments of carriers — which can have more than 5,000 sailors and Marines on board — have raised concerns. In a statement Sunday, Cooper praised the leadership on the carrier for making mental health and resilience a priority. Cooper also went to Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to meet with civilian and military leaders, according to the Central Command statement. The U.S. Navy’s blockade is in response to Iran asserting control over the Strait of Hormuz after the war started on Feb. 28 with U.S. and Israeli strikes. Before then, about one-fifth of the world’s traded oil and natural gas passed through what had been considered an international waterway. Talks between the U.S. and Iran have stalled while Iran talks with Oman about how to manage the strait that runs between them.

US negotiator meets with the Hamas chief

U.S. negotiator and President Donald Trump ‘s son-in-law Jared Kushner held

a rare meeting with the Hamas chief in a new diplomatic effort to make progress in the stalled Gaza ceasefire. Kushner will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday. The meeting in Egypt with Hamas’ Khalil al-Hayya was confirmed by a regional official and a Hamas official, both speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to reporters. Kushner was one of a trio of envoys meeting with al-Hayya, with officials from mediating countries Egypt, Qatar and Turkey also attending. Mediators are pushing for the implementation of a road map that calls for the disarmament of Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups in Gaza, the withdrawal of Israeli forces and the handing over of power to Palestinian technocrats. Netanyahu has rejected Trump’s latest plan to advance the stalled ceasefire, saying Israel will not withdraw from any of the roughly 60% of the territory it controls until Hamas has been completely disarmed — something the militant group controlling the rest has resisted. Kushner, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the director of the U.S.created Board of Peace overseeing the ceasefire, Nickolay Mladenov, are to meet with Netanyahu on Monday, according to a person familiar with the plans and a diplomat who both spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a closed-door meeting. Separately, Kushner met with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi. The president’s office said the meeting called for Israel and Hamas to “fulfill their obligations under the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip,” without elaborating.

Israel targets two Hezbollah commanders in Saturday’s strikes

Israel’s military said it targeted two Hezbollah commanders in Saturday’s strikes in southern Lebanon, the deadliest attacks since a truce between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah went into effect in June. Lebanon’s Health Ministry and state news agency said at least 11 people were killed. Israel’s military said early Sunday one strike killed Abu Hassan Alaa, whom it described as a senior Hezbollah commander who had taken part in attacks against Israel’s soldiers in southern Lebanon. Earlier, the military said a strike killed Ali Samir Al-Haj Hassan, also described as a Hezbollah commander,

adding that his family was with him. Israel and the Lebanese government announced a “framework agreement” in June, laying out a plan for Israeli forces to withdraw from southern Lebanon in exchange for Hezbollah’s disarmament. Hezbollah has refused direct talks and wasn’t party to the U.S.-mediated deal.

Iran insists Qatar is holding 3 of its pilots

Iran again on Sunday alleged that Qatar was holding three Iranian pilots who went missing in March when their jets were downed, which Qatar has denied. Iran’s state TV reported Sunday that the commander of the Missing Persons Committee of Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff has urged Qatar to allow Iranian Air Force experts to conduct a field investigation. This is the first known case in the war where Iran has said a regional country is holding its fighters. Tehran has repeatedly targeted regional countries that are hosting U.S. military bases.

An Israeli strike in Gaza wounds five

An Israeli strike hit Khan Younis in southern Gaza and wounded five people, including a child who was seriously injured, according to the Kuwaiti and Nasser hospitals, where the casualties were taken. Israel’s military said it struck a member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. While the heaviest fighting has subsided since a ceasefire took hold in October

between Israel and Hamas, Israeli forces have carried out repeated airstrikes, killing at least 1,262 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The ministry, part of the Hamas-led government, maintains detailed casualty records that are seen as generally reliable by U.N. agencies and independent experts. It does not give a breakdown of civilians and militants.

Israel’s Ben-Gvir advocates killing ‘30 to 40’ people in Gaza nightly

An extremist Israeli lawmaker in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition publicly advocated killing “30 to 40” people in Gaza each night in comments that surfaced Sunday. Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir was speaking to a former Gaza-held hostage, Rom Braslavski, on Braslavski’s podcast. The two were discussing Israel’s recovery from the Hamas attack of Oct. 7, 2023, when Ben-Gvir criticized Israel’s recent drawdown of strikes in Gaza. “It’s no secret, I disagree with the prime minister,” he said. “I think targeted assassinations should be carried out in Gaza, taking down 30 to 40 every night. Not just those who pose an immediate threat — there are people there who are not worthy of life. They shouldn’t live. They’re not even people.” Similar statements in the past have been presented to the U.N.’s world court as evidence of genocidal intent. Israel denies it has committed genocide in Gaza.

Dealing with excess water in the backyard garden By Grant McCarty Contributor

This week, parts of the Rockford area have continued to receive large amounts of rain. While fruits and vegetables in your garden need water, it can be too much of a good thing when it arrives all at once. I’ve noticed this in my own garden where plants that needed water now have too much. As a reminder, vegetables and fruits need about 1 to 1½ inches of water each week during the growing season. This can come from a water hose, drip line, or rainfall. From a plant perspective, water moves nutrients through the soil so they can be taken up by roots. Too little water means plants cannot access the nutrients they need for growth. This is also why we

recommend watering at the base of the plant rather than wetting the entire plant. While rain can be the primary water source, it can also create challenges. Plants can become waterlogged, causing nutrients to move away from the roots. Excess moisture reduces oxygen in the soil and can negatively affect soil microbes. In severe cases, heavy rainfall can even dislodge well-established roots. One of the greatest concerns with rain is that it creates favorable conditions for plant diseases. When foliage stays wet for long periods and environmental conditions are right, diseases can quickly move in. Almost all of the major tomato diseases, including Early Blight, Late Blight, Septoria leaf spot, and Bacterial Spot or Speck, spread more easily when

leaves remain wet. The same is true for cucurbits, with Downy Mildew being one of the most concerning diseases. My own ‘Cherokee Purple’ tomatoes are seeing increased disease pressure this week from the rain. With tomato harvest underway, heavy rainfall can also increase fruit splitting and other quality issues. You may also notice more blossom end rot appearing in your garden. So, what can you do about it? If disease is already present, sprays are often less effective because most products work best as preventive treatments. You may be able to slow disease spread by removing heavily infected leaves. For tomatoes, consider harvesting as they begin to show color and allowing them to ripen indoors. A

tomato left on the vine during heavy rains is more likely to split. If flooding or soil movement has occurred in your garden, you may need to add compost or reapply fertilizer once conditions improve. Finally, one of the best ways to help manage heavy rainfall is by using straw mulch around plants and throughout the garden. Mulch softens the impact of heavy downpours, slows water movement, and helps protect the soil. It is not too late to mulch your garden. While we can’t control how much rain falls, a few simple management practices can help our gardens weather these wet conditions a little better. Population growth has consequences By Dr. Robert Vogl, Ph.D.

Illinois Renewable Energy Association Contributor

An article in the journal mdpiaa by KarlErick Norrman entitled World Population Growth: A Once and Future Global Concern provides an overview of the challenge of global population growth. In it he describes that most scientists in the 1950s thought global population growth was a problem. By the 1970s it became conventional wisdom that the growth in population had become a threat to humanity and to sound social, economic and ecological development. Internationally governments developed programs addressing population concerns but when birth control efforts in China and India became mandatory international support for population control waned. By the 1990s it almost came taboo in academic and political discussions. The original published concern over limiting population came from the

writings of Thomas Malthus appearing in An Essay on. The Prinicipal of Population in 1798. He observed that human betterment required that food production needed to grow more quickly than the population so that the poorer segments of the population would suffer if food production failed to keep up with population growth. If food production failed to keep up he warned of serious social consequences could result in famines, social turbulence and war. His views were considered overly pessimist and his views have remained controversial to this day. Both my parents came from large immigrant families of 11 children who attended church operated schools. An occasional comment from our parents and relatives was that they did not want large families because of the cost of raising children. Given the economic depression of the 1930s it was not surprising that some relatives chose not to have children. With the end of WWII the economy

improved and people once again began to have more children but not as many families of had a dozen of them. The ideas of Malthus regained some new support during the 1960s and 1970s in response to the rapid economic development following World War II produced g row ing env ironmenta l damage. Scientists like Carson, Borgstrom and Erhlich warned about the impact of economic development on nature and the depletion of resources. That effort produced some positive results, but lost some international support by the 1990s as population control became mandatory in China and India. Since 2000 climate change rose to prominence on the International Agenda. In 2015 the UN supported the global goals to end poverty and protect the planet by 2030 and population growth was no longer mentioned. Although UN projections anticipates that the world population could peak around 10.4 billion

by 2080. As part of the international effort to curb climate change an effort has been placed on the need to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and transition to cleaner energy sources. However, the current administration in the U,S. has a different perspective on energy and population policies in an attempt to accelerate economic growth. The different perspectives regarding appropriate federal government policies have left the nation divided with such differences producing a wide range of court cases regarding them. While Malthus was concerned over social consequences of population growth exceeding the ability to grow enough food to feed the poor. Today’s population concern is focused on earth’s ability to provide the resources and absorb the wastes from the industrial society and the social consequences of exceeding the earth’s limits.

CANCER, LEO AND VIRGO

LIBRA, SCORPIO AND SAGITTARIUS

Week of August 16 to 22, 2026

Horoscope ARIES

Taking a step back will be enough to resolve major issues affecting your future. Discus sions and negotiations will be necessary, and you’ll need to carefully consider each option before finalizing an agreement.

TAURUS

Finding a solution that satisfies everyone is difficult when opinions clash. You’ll need to be creative to ease tensions, come up with original compromises and restore a harmo nious atmosphere around you.

GEMINI

A series of small victories will restore your confidence. With this renewed self esteem, you’ll feel more comfortable de fending an idea or a personal project and taking concrete steps to implement it.

CANCER

Your priority will be to design an efficient and inspiring home workspace. With solid organization, your leadership qualities will shine through, and you’ll be ready to devel op your own ventures with confidence.

LEO

Matters of the heart will occupy your thoughts. Through thoughtful gestures, dis creet acts of kindness and sincere words, you’ll help the relationship grow, gradually deepening both your feelings and those of your partner.

VIRGO

The prospect of a real estate transaction could arise: a sale, a purchase or a reno vation. You’ll explore more advantageous options, both to reduce expenses and to improve the comfort and stability of your home.

LIBRA

Several people will call on you, leading to frequent trips. The increased volume of travel could become an opportunity to treat yourself to a few small pleasures, or even to consider upgrading to a vehicle better suited to your lifestyle.

SCORPIO

By carefully analyzing your budget, you’ll realize that your financial resources are sufficient to move forward with a major pro ject. What you thought was out of reach will suddenly become achievable, opening the door to a dream you’ve had for a long time.

SAGITTARIUS

The weight of your responsibilities might discourage you at first, but your recent progress will prove that you have solid re sources at your disposal. Once you realize this, you’ll finally dare to act with an unstop pable determination.

CAPRICORN

Taking a step back will help you clarify your goals. Professionally, you’re aiming higher and more precisely, but this progress will require a gradual evolution, patiently built over time.

AQUARIUS

The holidays are barely over, and you’re already dreaming of your next getaway in good company. At the office, you might lead a big meeting with colleagues or partners, creating a defining moment for your orga nization.

PISCES

You’re feeling a need to grow internally and intellectually. You might be considering a career change or a journey of personal de velopment. Embracing these changes could prove deeply beneficial for your growth.
