Circus hijinks at Discovery Center on July 7: ROCKFORD, IL - The circus is coming to town! Enjoy a day full of surprises and silliness the Wild Rumpus Circus comes to Discovery Center for three engaging performances on Friday, July 7. Enjoy the combination of hilarious clowning with aerial artistry, rapid fire juggling, and fantastic stilt walkers! Between the two morning shows, children can experience being a circus performer as they balance on a tightwire, take a swing on a low-flying trapeze and go for a spin on a kid-size German Wheel! Tickets for shows available at the door on a first-come, first-serve basis, with one show per family, please. All activities included with museum admission: $10/person for the Public; FREE to museum members and all children ages one and younger. Show Times: 10:00 am, 11:00 am and 2:15 pm; Circus Activities: 11:45 am to 1:45 pm In 2002, professional clown, actor and juggler Jacob Mills and dancer, aerialist and stilt walker Marcia Miquelon combined forces to offer the first “Let the Wild Rumpus Begin!” circus arts day camps in Mazomanie, Wisconsin. In 2009, the Wild Rumpus World Circus began touring internationally, and has delighted audiences in the US, the Middle East and Europe by speaking the universal language of laughter and offering a hands-on experience which engages the imagination. Mills and Miquelon are also founders of the Mazo Movement Arts Center where they provide teaching, practice and performance space for all kinds of movement and musical forms. Wild Rumpus Circus Family Friday is sponsored by Constellation Energy and a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency. All activities are included with museum admission - $10/person; free to Discovery Center members and children age 1 and younger.
