Experience Art Like Never Before: The Impressionists: Immersive Exhibition marks a significant milestone as the first-time partnership between Rockford Art Museum and Discovery Center Museum. This collaboration unites two prestigious organizations in a shared commitment to enriching the cultural landscape of our community. By combining their unique strengths, they are able to offer an unprecedented experience that not only celebrates the transformative power of art but also enhances educational opportunities for all ages. This partnership reflects a collective vision to inspire, educate, and engage the community through innovative and immersive art experiences. For the first time, an entire artistic movement— featuring legendary works by Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Morisot, Degas, Cézanne, and more—is being brought to life through dynamic visuals, captivating music, and engaging storytelling. Visitors will journey through over 1,000 masterpieces projected onto expansive 2,300 square-foot screens, offering an up-close and deeply emotional connection with these iconic artists’ works – all inside Woodward Hall, accessible through Discovery Center Museum. Key highlights of the exhibition include: Revolutionary 3D interactive panels that unveil the secrets, influences, and techniques of the masters; fun and shareable selfie sets designed to encourage visitor interaction and social media sharing; an emphasis on educating and inspiring younger audiences through engaging, multimedia experiences. Since its debut overseas, the exhibition has captivated over 1.5 million visitors worldwide, making it Europe’s most celebrated immersive art event. After its success in cities like Boise, Idaho and Amarillo, Texas, the exhibition continues to bring art closer to all who visit and enjoy it. Rockford Art Museum and Discovery Center Museum are thrilled to be able to bring an exhibition of this caliber to Rockford for the community to experience. This exhibition is presented by the R. Robert and Sally D. Funderburg Endowment, and sponsored by Collins Aerospace; Kjellstrom Family Foundation; Ahlstrand Family Foundation; Lon + Richard Behr, Bergstrom, Inc., Dean Alan Olson Foundation, Joan Stonecipher; Savant Wealth Management; Rockford Area Arts Council, UW Health; and Gloyd Family Foundation (list to date).
