From the Desk of A. Beyel Dear Members and Guests, It’s hard to believe September is already here. After what felt like an incredibly hot August, I think we are all ready for a little cooler weather and the start of fall. We have another busy few months ahead of us at Rockledge Country Club. This month we will close the golf course for one day for scheduled aerification. We know no one likes to see the course closed, and we truly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. Aerification is an important part of maintaining the long term health and quality of the course, and everything we do is with the future of RCC in mind. Whether it is something you see immediately or work happening behind the scenes, we are always looking for ways to improve RCC while taking care of a property and golf course that have been part of this community for more than 100 years. 4

Fall is always a busy and fun time around the Club. Our event calendar is filling up with weddings, celebrations, golf outings and private events, and before we know it, the holiday season will be here. I want to thank all of you for your continued support of Rockledge Country Club. We have accomplished a lot, we still have plenty we want to do, and I am excited about where we are headed. Thank you for being part of RCC!

GOLF OPERATIONS UPDATE

August was a very productive month of completing some amazing projects around the clubhouse, with the course keeping plenty busy as well. We finished a complete renovation of the golf shop with new flooring, a new counter, and a fresh paint job. The shop looks great and we will be planning a special shopping day soon as we begin to receive our fall merchandise in. We will also be unveiling a new version of our logo which we are very excited about, we have plenty of incoming products with this new logo which will be arriving soon. On the lesson tee, we have released the dates and enrollment for our fall adult Operation 36 program which is open to anyone 18 and older regardless of gender or skill level. This is a tremendous program for all skill levels and in particular a great way for a new player to get started in the game of golf, as you master skills closer to the hole before advancing back to longer yardages. Both men and women are welcome to participate, it’s also a great program for couples to do together. We also have our fall season of PGA Junior league upcoming beginning in October, the program is completely sold out and we have several new players participating that we are welcoming to the game of golf and RCC. If you are in the market for any new equipment heading into the fall season, we have several fitting days upcoming that are open to sign up for, Callaway Golf will be onsite on September 10th and TaylorMade on September 25th. Appointments fill fast for these so make sure and register for a fitting time as soon as possible to secure your spot. 8

We will also be ramping up several of our weekly leagues as we get into the fall season. Several of these include the following: Monday Veterans League Mondays at 10:00AM, Open to all Veterans of any age or gender Monday 9 Hole Ladies League Mondays at 3:00PM, 9 Holes of fun and friendly competition Tuesday 18 Hole Ladies League NEW to RCC, Tuesday mornings 18-holes open to new players And of course don’t forget about our Saturday Morning Men’s shootout, open to new players with an established GHIN Handicap, Saturday mornings at 8:30AM. GOLF MAINTENANCE UPDATE

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer golf rounds. So far, it hasn’t been too bad as far as closures due to excessive rain. That can all change quickly this time of year, however. Unfortunately, we can’t control how much rain comes out of the sky. When it becomes excessive and the soil won’t absorb it quickly, there is not much we can do. We do have some pumps we set up occasionally to remove excess surface water, but the soil still remains waterlogged. We have a fairway aerification planned for Tuesday, September 8th. The course will be closed all day to allow us to complete this operation. Also, on September 21st, the green will be aerated for the final time this year. Once again, the holes will be on the smaller side so minimal disruption will occur. The course was recently sprayed for weeds and it was an effective application. There will be one more broadcast spray operation done before the year end. We are very excited to announce our new pump station has been installed and is performing well. This is a tremendous improvement and will allow for proper irrigation coverage to our course for many years to come! Yours in Turf, Jerry Yeomans
