GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE
We are finally entering bermudagrass growing season This is the time of year where the humidity and heat become unbearable for us, but the Bermuda thrives. Moisture, sunlight and warm temperatures are the three ingredients for maximum growth, and this is the best time of year for all 3.
To maximize our growth opportunities, we engage in cultural practices that improve the soil environment for the turf. Those practices include aerification, vertiicutting and topdressing We will be aerifying fairways, green surrounds and traffic areas as time permits. This will enhance the soils ability for oxygen exchange and also alleviate compacted areas that are created by excess cart and equipment traffic.

You may have noticed some of the scorched areas in the fairways recently. We are on an aggressive program of weed control, and unfortunately, some bronzing of the turf is going to happen. The grass will bounce back in a short period of time We also recently eliminated many of our dead, dying and/or diseased trees on the course. In addition, we selectively removed a few that have grown so large as to impede play areas. We still have a few more of these to remove in the future
New cups and flagpoles also finally made their arrival. Flagpoles apparently are one of those “supply chain” items that have been hard to get Until next time, see you around the club!
