Dear Members & Guests,

Happy New Year! As we welcome 2025, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the incredible support you’ve shown our club. Your involvement is what makes Rockledge Country Club such a special place.

We had a fantastic holiday season, highlighted by our lively pop-up party in December, our sold-out Breakfast with Santa, and the Holiday Scramble, which was a great success! It was wonderful to see so many of you enjoying the festivities and having a good time together. We also hosted numerous corporate parties, which contributed to a vibrant atmosphere at the club. A heartfelt thank you to our amazing staff, whose hard work and dedication made every event memorable. I feel truly blessed to have such a fantastic team, and their efforts do not go unnoticed.

As we move into January, I’m thrilled to share that our Operation 36 Ladies program will be underway soon, welcoming new participants eager to learn the game. Additionally, registration for the PGA Junior League is now open. If you have a junior golfer aged 13 and under, please reach out soon to secure a spot.

COURSE MAINTENCE UPDATE

January 2025

It is quickly becoming a chilly start to the new year. I hope everyone had a great holiday season and hope for a fantastic 2025! We are currently doing some slice aerification on some of our wear areas at cart path entrances and exits. This helps alleviate some compaction and helps with oxygen exchange in the soil.

We will soon be making another spray application that will include a pre and a post emergent product to control weeds. It is vital to have these products in place as the turf thins out in winter and offers plenty of opportunity for weeds to multiply.

The cooler weather has helped in our ability to create nice green speeds. Zoysia is a warm season grass that is very aggressive in the summer and grows at a minimal pace in winter. That slow growth is ideal for green speed but makes recovery from weak areas difficult. We do have some weak areas on the perimeters of a few greens, but it is minimal. We spike aerify these areas periodically to help minimize algae formation.

Please continue to enjoy the golf course during the cooler season but remember to do your part in helping to ensure good conditions. Fixing your ball marks on greens, raking your footprints in bunkers, filling your divots and driving golf carts responsibly and in the proper areas are all things golfers should do to help maintain great conditions for everyone.

Yours in Turf, Jerry Yeomans

PRO SHOP UPDATE

We would like to an opportunity to thank all of the players for participating in the 64th Annual Platinum Coast Invitational held in December. This historic event once again brought many of the top amateur players from around the state to Rockledge Country Club. Our overall individual winner was Masen Mckain who won in a thrilling 3-hole sudden death playoff. Masen is from New Smyrna Beach and currently plays for the EFSU Golf Team. Congrats to all of the flight winners, we have several RCC Members who have qualified for the East Coast Amateur series final in January, best of luck to all of those players!

This January we have our Operation 36 Ladies program which will run for 2 months. After quickly reaching our maximum capacity, we added another instructor to the program and added additional ladies. This season’s class has 15 ladies participating, many of whom are brand new to the game and to Rockledge CC, we can’t wait to see these ladies progress through the program and introduce them to our club.

January also begins registration for the PGA Junior League, last year our Juniors won the local championship, this program runs from March through May and includes weekly practices and matches against other area teams. If you have a junior age 13 and under that would like to participate, please reach out ASAP as this will fill quickly as well.

Our new golf cart GPS System is going through the final stages of calibration and should be working perfectly very soon, thank you for your patience as we work through getting the system installed. Having cart traffic control in certain areas is making a big difference, as you can see from the below photos its very clear to distinguish where the carts are not allowed, this allows for nice lies and better turf conditions around the greens for all of your pitch and chip shots.

In the golf shop, we just finished up our Holiday sale and many were able to get some amazing logo merchandise at great prices. We still have plenty to choose from and some new incoming styles this month, so keep your eyes out for new arrivals.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support of RCC.
