From the Desk of A. Beyel Dear Members and Guests, Can you believe we’re already in the final quarter of 2026? I’m not sure where this year went! Mother Nature has definitely been giving us a little more rain than we asked for lately. Our team has been working hard to keep up with it and keep the course looking and playing its best. Hopefully, October brings us some cooler temperatures, a little less rain and plenty of beautiful days to enjoy the Club. It’s also that time of year when we start seeing our snowbirds return for the season. To those who are already back, welcome back! And to those making their way south over the next several weeks, we look forward to seeing you soon. We also have quite a few new members joining us, and we hope you’re settling in, meeting other members and enjoying the course, the pickleball courts and Vue 18.

Pickleball is starting to heat up just as the weather is hopefully cooling down. This is such a great time of year to be outside in Florida, and we expect both the golf course and pickleball courts to be busy.
The rest of the Club will be busy too. Holiday parties, weddings, golf events and celebrations are filling our calendar, and before we know it, the holidays will be here. It’s going to be a busy few months at Rockledge Country Club! You’ll also see an important Membership Information page in this newsletter. We have several updates coming, including membership rate changes effective November 1, credit card processing fees, golf cart policies and a few reminders about Club rules. Please take a few minutes to look it over. Some of these changes help us protect the golf course and our equipment, while others are simply reminders as we head into our busiest season. As always, thank you for being part of Rockledge Country Club. We appreciate our members and are looking forward to a great fall and a fun finish to 2026.
All my best,
Andrea Beyel, GM Rockledge Country Club

GOLF OPERATIONS We are very excited for the fall season to be arriving and with the slight drop in temperatures we are beginning to welcome back many of our seasonal members. We have a very active fall and winter season planned with many exciting events coming up. This is also a very busy time in outside events and tournaments, so please make sure any double check your starting times, the golf shop staff can assist in finding alternative times for your groups if they are affected by a scheduled event. We have several instructional programs that are kicking off in early October as well. We have our fall edition of the PGA Junior league with 22 Juniors ready to go for 6 practices and 6 matches against other local teams. Our Adult operation 36 program has reached maximum capacity and will be starting in the first week of October. Another program we are honored to be offering this October is the PGA Hope Veteran program which introduces the game of golf to military veterans and active-duty service members to improve their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being. Coach Dalton has received specialized training and is a certified instructor who will be leading the PGA Hope program this fall.
We also have several new leagues gearing up for the season, our Monday afternoon 9-hole ladies league is ready to go and offers a fun, relaxing, and mildly competitive opportunity to play and is open to all skill levels. We also welcome our new Tuesday Morning 18-hole ladies’ group which is coming to us from another location and will now call RCC Home, ladies interested in joining this group can see the golf shop staff. And for the Men, as always our Saturday Morning Men’s 18-hole shootout is open to new players to join at any time. In the golf shop we are starting to receive some new merchandise in with our new oak tree logo which looks incredible. Some new Pukka hats with 4 different colors are now in the shop and coming in October will be some tee shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies featuring the redesigned logo. If you are interested in any special orders as we get near the holidays, stop into the golf shop and see Dottie and she will be happy to assist you. Matt Morrison, PGA Head Golf Professional
GOLF MAINTENANCE The beautiful fall weather that we all love so much is right around the corner! For now, though, we are still dealing with the persistent heat and humidity of summer. Along with that comes the rain that continues to cause problems for the golf course. When our soil reaches full capacity and can’t handle any more moisture, additional rainfall becomes a problem as there is nowhere the water can go except evaporate or move down through the soil profile. This is why certain areas of the course drain slower as there is a hard pan layer that is very resistant to allowing moisture through it. Those areas exist on 6,13 and 15. Other areas drain fairly quickly, such as, 5 and 7. These areas have a layer of sand about 2 feet below the surface. We must be cognizant of the fact that slower growth will begin as the temperatures cool, so any damage done now by weather or traffic will be more difficult to heal. This is why it is extremely important to adhere to the cart driving restrictions when required. Our fairway aerification process is crawling along as the weather has certainly hindered our progress. We have six holes remaining to complete and will do so as weather permits. This process helps to alleviate compaction in the soil that is created by maintenance and golfer traffic throughout the year. It also allows for oxygen exchange to the roots of the plant. As I am sure most of you are aware, we recently core aerified the greens for the final time this year. There will be other aerification processes throughout the winter but they will not involve pulling a soil core and therefore will not be disruptive to the playing surface. Finally, we have scheduled for the tees and driving range tee to be overseeded on November 9th. This is done each year to help create a good playing surface that will last through the busy winter season. Our tees are on the smaller side and would not be able to withstand the traffic they receive if not for the overseed. The seed we use is perennial ryegrass and it grows well in winter here in Florida. It is considered a “cool season”grass. Our base Bermuda is considered a “warm season” grass and does not grow aggressively in the winter. Until next time, good golfing! Yours in Turf, Jerry Yeomans
