Women's Indoor Volleyball

The fall volleyball season will start the week of September 13 and run through mid-November. Teams will be able to choose the night of play, Monday, or Wednesday night. There is an 8team maximum per night, once those spots are filled, we will not be taking anymore registration. We need at least 6 per night to fill a league, teams may be asked to switch nights if there are not enough teams. Each team will play at least two games per night. Playoff champions will receive a t-shirt. We will have to follow RCPS COVID-19 policies. Teams will be informed of those policies before the season begins.

Fee $175 per team | Register By September 3 Mondays or Wednesdays | 6:30-9:30pm Season: September-November | WPMS

The winter coed volleyball season will start January 10 and run through beginning of March. Games will be played on both Monday and Wednesday nights. Make-up games are at the discretion of the department and can be played on any night. Teams must begin each match with equal or more females on the court. Space is limited to the first 8 teams. We will have to follow RCPS guidelines when it comes to COVID-19 restrictions.

Women's Self Defense

Rockingham County Deputies will conduct three 90 minute Women’s Self Defense classes. The classes are three consecutive days set up for basic and more advanced self-defense skills and the entire class is hands on life saving. The classes contains components such as how to better personal awareness, defend against aggressive attackers, how to strike, punch and kick. An instructor will wear a padded “red man suit” on the third day so that students can use the skills they have learned.

co-ed indoor volleyball Adult Recreation Basketball

The adult basketball season, open to men and women, will start early February and run through mid-April. Night of play is listed below; however game days could change depending on the schools schedule. Make-up games are at the discretion of the department. Playoff champions will receive t-shirts. Entry fee must be paid in full at time of registration. Final rosters are due by the first game. Shirt sizes must be turned in at time of registration for jersey/shirt orders.

Beginner Rock Climbing & Rappelling

GEORGE WASH. NTL. FOREST, VA Enjoy a day of introductory instruction and participation in technical rock climbing. Participants will learn some basic movement on rock, and will learn to tie appropriate knots, to belay, and to rappel. One needs not to be a “super-athlete, ” but should be prepared for a full day of hiking and physical activity. Meet up and driving directions will be provided.

BRIDGEWATER, VA Meet up with us for a half-day introduction to wild caving. Participants will learn basic caving safety, underground navigation, and some elementary limestone geology. We will also spend some time exploring, stooping, crawling, squeezing and getting very muddy!

Still Water Qigong

Imagine you are standing in a still water lake, the water warm and moving gently back and forth. Now imagine you know body movements which will not only relax your body, relieve stress and increase strength and flexibility but will also offer healing energy to all your body systems including your heart, lungs, digestive and so on. This is mindful movement. It is easy to learn and fun to do and it does not damage joints, strain muscles or create shin splints! This form can be done sitting or standing and can be as gentle or as dynamic as you choose. This is truly a moving exercise for anyone! Instructor is Jennifer Stroop Hensley, Certified Tai Chi & Qigong instructor specializing in teaching those with health issues.
