25/26
Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s 25/26 Pops Season!
Get ready for an unforgettable season of music, energy, and creativity as we kick off another incredible Pops Season with this remarkable orchestra.
This season features three thrilling premieres, starting with Summer Breeze: Yacht Rock Classics, an easy, breezy celebration of Steely Dan, Toto, Christopher Cross, and more. Then we present The Sounds of Laurel Canyon: Rock Legends of the ‘60s and ‘70s, transporting audiences from Kodak Hall to the golden age of California cool, with music from icons like Crosby, Stills & Nash, Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, and more. The season’s final premiere, Fiesta Sinfonica: A Symphonic Celebration, will be an electrifying showcase of Latin music featuring singer Camille Zamora backed by the Afro Cuban rhythms of the Mambo Kings.
Be sure to join us for the conclusion of a magical journey eight years in the making with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™, Part 2—In Concert, the final installment of this iconic film series. Watch as your RPO’s own trumpeter extraordinaire, Herb Smith, makes his Pops Series conducting debut with Endless Love: R&B Love Songs and Duets, featuring vocal sensations Chester Gregory (Motown: The Musical) and Shayna Steele (Rent and Hairspray).
Fans of film music won’t want to miss Heroes and Villains: Movie Music Classics, a thrilling escapade of epic film scores from your favorite spy and superhero movies. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Pops Season without Rochester’s most beloved holiday tradition, Gala Holiday Pops, returning for its 32nd year, with the always impressive Festival High School Chorale, featuring vocalists from more than 25 high schools across the Rochester region.
And finally, grab your inner astronaut and climb aboard “Starship RPO” for an imaginative reprise: SPACE!, featuring the greatest musical hits, artistic collaborations, and stunning visual effects from last spring’s sold-out performance of the RPO’s Eclipse Spectacular at Blue Cross Arena!
So, buckle up, Rochester. Your Pops Season doesn’t get any better than this!
JEFF TYZIK, PRINCIPAL POPS CONDUCTOR
