U.S. Chamber Awards Rochester Chamber with 5-Star Accreditation

reater Rochester Chamber of Commerce received U.S. Chamber of Commerce 5-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community. Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3-Star, 4-Star, or 5-Star. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members.

Of the more than 7,000 chambers of commerce in the United States, Rochester Chamber is one of only 205 to carry U.S. Chamber Accreditation, 112 with 5-Star Accreditation, and one of only four accredited chambers in New York State. Rochester Chamber and North Country Chamber of Commerce are the only 5-Star Accredited chambers in New York. In a congratulatory letter to Rochester Chamber CEO Bob Duffy, U.S. Chamber CEO Tom Donohue said, “Many chambers employ the Accreditation process as a way to establish organizational excellence. Nonetheless, your chamber went above and beyond the minimum requirements and was awarded the 5-Star designation. Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review can take six to nine months to complete. Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce Chairman and Constellation Brands CEO Rob Sands said, “This 5-Star Accreditation from the
