P

hase I renovations that began in the community center’s west wing this spring are all but completed. Finishing touches like fresh wall paint, window treatments, upgraded LED lighting, flooring and ceiling tiles are added to what are now being called the emerald, sapphire and ruby rooms. While select areas of the center have been repaired, changed or upgraded such as the auditorium, stage and individual club rooms, it’s been well over 50 years since a major restoration of this kind has occurred. in progress will bring the entire look and feel of the structure into the 21st century by the end of 2016. As the job transitions into Phase II, many senior citizen and summer youth programs that are currently in progress will continue without interruption as done previously in phase one. New hallway closures and wooden partitions will be erected until approximately September 30 when Phase II work is expected to be completed. New entry doors are being installed in the community center’s inner courtyard area for greater access into the west wing.
