Violin Concerto 1st movt

The Violin Concerto is first and foremost lyrical. As with most Concertos it's in three movements - Fast Slow-Fast. Composing a good tune is the hardest thing but also remaining true to yourself i.e. this is 2021 not 1821 and I have had the opportunity to hear all sorts of music, from Bach to Beethoven to Britten to Maxwell Davies etc. So, what will a good tune of mine sound like? As with all good melodies there must be balance, the ear needs to be led, carefully, as the music unfolds taking the listener with it. A good melody will sound inevitable, it couldn't have sound any different. Harmony may sound dissonant at times but again the ear is taken along on the journey and each step is carefully measured and laid down. Well - that's what I hope I've managed in this piece. The Concerto is written for a fairly standard orchestra and the solo part is difficult enough I think but not outrageously so. All three movements of the concerto can be found on issuu.com/robintranter as individual uploads. Please feel free to explore and comment if you feel able. Thank you.
