PRODUCT SHORTAGES

RED ONION UPDATE!

As the UK season comes to a close, we’ll be welcoming imports from Egypt starting in early May. Expect top-quality red onions to keep your dishes vibrant and flavourful!

BANANA SHALLOTS - LIMITED SUPPLY!

Banana shallots are currently in short supply, which means prices are higher than usual. Grab them while you can for that distinctive, sweet flavour they bring to your cooking!

PLUMS

As we shift from South African to European supply, there may be a slight dip in availability during the transition. But don’t worry - we’ll have plenty of juicy plums back on offer soon!

BROWN ONIONS

Supply of brown onions continues to tighten, but stocks are expected to last until June. Recently, prices have risen due to reduced availability in Spain and Holland, which has impacted prices across Europe. It’s a great time to stock up while you can!

LARGE ONIONS

Chilean supply is currently short, and with the early Spanish crop still developing in quality, prices are expected to remain high throughout the month. It’s a good time to plan ahead for your onion needs!

PARSNIPS

Recent unseasonably warm weather has led to a drop in parsnip yields, with quality declining and packout rates significantly reduced. This has created a shortage that’s expected to continue throughout the month. With the Spanish crop not due until June and UK growers face challenges with limited quality, prices have already increased and are likely to rise further through May.

LEEKS

UK leeks are expected to finish by mid-May, and we’ll be transitioning to imported crops shortly. With this change, there will be a slight price increase, but rest assured, the quality will remain top-notch!

GRAPES

The South African grape season has now finished, and prices are expected to rise throughout May. We’re anticipating the arrival of Egyptian grapes in mid-May, though early-season prices are likely to remain strong.

PEELED GARLIC

Supply of peeled garlic will remain tight, with strong prices expected in the coming weeks.

We keep in regular contact with our suppliers to closely monitor crop development, ensuring we maintain strong relationships to deliver the freshest produce from around the world.
