Robinson was born and raised in Patchogue, New York, on Long Island. His father, Robert Crothers, had an established career in financial advisory services, and he had spent nearly a decade working with him. This hands-on experience shaped his understanding of portfolio management, client relationships, and long-term Financial Planning.

He attended the Mario Gabelli School of Business at Roger Williams University, earning a degree in Finance. During his time there, he was also a member of the university’s wrestling team.

Early Career and Family Business After completing his degree, Robinson worked as a Consultant in the Institutional Investment space. In that role, he partnered with Pensions, Endowments, and Family Offices to build portfolios that included Private Equity, Hedge Funds, and other Alternative Investments. He later joined his father in the family-run advisory firm, beginning nearly 10 years of direct experience managing client portfolios.

Great South Bay Advisors reflects more than 50 years of combined experience from the Crothers family. The firm evolved from its origins as American Portfolios and was rebranded as Great South Bay Advisors in January 2025 under their leadership.
