SUMMERSCHOOL The 2014 Summer School Planning and Designing with Water will focus on the city of Rotterdam and its surrounding region, and on the challenges and solutions found in order to comply with contemporary water management and design practices

BOUWKUNDE, TU DELFT 18th to 27th July 2014 Regional planning & design with

WATER learning with Dutch cities and regions The summer school will invite students to understand the theories and practices that bring together water management and urban development and to apply the knowledge acquired in the elaboration of a vision and a spatial plan for an urban area. The aim is to explore the Dutch tradition of planning and designing with water and the integration of water management with urban development in the Netherlands. The summer school will be led by the Delft University of Technology, in

collaboration with the National Cheng-Kung University of Taiwan and other international partners. This exercise will include site visits, talks with OFFICIALS, professionals and academics and a short studio-led exercise, where students and teachers will explore possibilities through the elaboration of spatial scenarios and the design of interventions in the region of Rotterdam, a great city-port situated on one of the most important urbanized delta regions of the world.
