POP LTD Progressive supershort freestyle / wave Built with a lightweight technology that allows flex, control and scoop rockerline accuracy. The board is built with a CNC EPS core of 20 kgs/m3 density, then laminated with 200 grams biaxial glass fibers and finished with a 55 grams carbon net over a bamboo stepping deck vacuum glued onto the board at 90 compared to the stringer length so as to avoid excessive stiffness onto the board its flex.

The stringer of the board is made with an omega glass stringer that saves up 10% of the boards' total weight compared to a classic wood stringer.

The perfect stick to use when conditions are not quite the “ideal world” and you still want to ride strapless and practice those new freestyle tricks on flat water or small surf. It’s a pleasure to ride the POP with light winds when you need some meat under your feet to get going and also to allow you some time of safe floatation when you are not a “flash gordon” while tacking or throwing your first strapless jumps.

Landing jumps on this board is soft, the wide outline and the surfboard kind of construction developed for kiteboarding is the best answer to tricks and playing on water. The board that makes any conditions fun and still allows to ride small surf with speed and great aerials potential.

Designed around an entirely new outline base with a very wide mid point, a squared nose, inspired by the new mini-maxi surfboards to increase floating potential on this super short stick, and a very wide but gently rounded swallow/fish retrostyle tail, to increase the POP potential of this modern freestyle /surfboard shape.

Slight tail lift on a very straight rocker with kicked nose on a constant scoopline, makes the perfect balance when wanting to mix freestyle with surfing.

But there is only one thing you do not want to compromise: turn as tight and smooth as possible in that pocket.The minimaxi says it all. Super short length in a width common only to longboards. A totally constant curve scooprocker line with absolutely no flat spots at all, since there is no hesitation when you go maxi wide on a mini length like this. There is something about it that makes it feel just right: the scoop rocker, it’s the same one used on the Poison V2, constant curve with slightly lifted tip area, but the outline has been completely re-designed. The new outline is based on the one designed for the new wake-style board program, the Juice V2: it features a totally straight line in the mid 45 cms of the board, creating a perfect area to push hard when trying to edge and go upwind as hard as you can. The tip area has instead being narrowed down quite a bit, increasing top speed and allowing a quicker direction change, therefore increasing the pop. The newly designed Torsion Box follows the profile of the tips being developed with a new squared/swallow outline creating a higher angle of attack on the water surface, and incresing control.

BLISS V3 FREERIDE / FREESTYLE A completely new shape on this range, conceived as a freeride allround board, able to perform at its best in all kinds of water and wind, granting a fantastic sensation of security while riding. The surprise will appear once you ride these boards freestyling. Great amount of pop given by a perfect mix of medium flex, creating a perfect receipe also for easy landings.

Deep bottom channels increase grip and stability of riding, allowing to really go fast and track upwind and immediately slam on the breaks, loading your lines and kite to boost some sick air.

CNC shaped from Pawlonia wood finished with thin and slightly rounded edge ABS sidewalls, the shape is then laminated with triaxial high tenacity glass in order to guarantee a long lifetime and a reduced weight. The best of the two worlds.

The BS45 V4 is made with a constant curve rocker line that keeps the tips of the board high enough on the water to avoid tips spraying, and most important offers a fantastic manoeuvreability combined with a super early planing.

The BS 45 V4 comes also with a different scoop rocker line and bottom shape. The PRO version has more curve and a slightly deeper concave. This creates a slightly slower board with more pop potential and in general an easier-to-turn type of shape. The increased bottom curve also allows a better handling when getting overpowered.

EMOTION MK1 Strutless light wind kite The EMOTION is a strutless designed kite developed for those kiters looking for a super practical kite that packs with 30% smaller volume than a conventional 3 strut kite. Lightweight, simple, clean and really easy to handle and water-relaunch. The design challenge was the making of a stable profile even in gusty winds or in overpowered conditions. The Passion MK7 delivers pure, easy to handle power and a fantastic stability and range of use. It’s the kite you are always going to use with a smile on your face.

The MK7 is a re-designed, refined version of the Passion MK6. The Leading edge arch has been re-tuned and developed around the middle size 11, an aspect ratio that has pleased any riders’ level in a large variety of conditions. This in combination of a shorter leading edge overall length, has reached a mix of perfect compromise of power handling and stability. The foil shape has been sligthly increased, but we have kept the same LE thickness in the center area, making it a very stiff, very stable support for the whole canopy material.

The Obsession PRO MKII is our pure blooded freestyle kite.

It’s been designed and developed with precise input from our freestyle pro team to get them exactely what they need.No compromise on the type of shape: a pure, very fine tuned C-shape kite equipped with 5 lines, to be precise, powerful or very neutral when you need it. Now that freestyle has reached incredible levels of performance you need a kite that not only delivers this on/off feedback to the bar, but also an incredibly increased stability of the kite itself in the air. Very thin shaped struts to minimize weight, and thin leading edge diameter has allowed to save about 300 grams of weight when comparing to the previous MKI kite,making the kite even more stable than before.

The Obsession PRO MK2 is designed with a very high aspect ratio C-shape, that helps creating the perfect de-power rope length: infact the whole power range of the kite is within 15-20 cms from your chicken loop enabling you to have the perfect power control without the need of moving your arms forward. Also when using the kite fully powered up, you can easily un-hook and get a very neutral feel with it when keeping the kite in the same spot. The super squared tip design helps increasing the turning speed when needed and creates a very precise, predictable behaviour in the air. You always know where the kite is without the need of high bar pressure.

To get a racing engine to work to 100% of its potential you need lots of design time, protos to test and tune and then once you have the final best kite in your hands it’s time to set your watch and GPS and spend endless amount of time in the water before a race.

In order to maximize the efficiency of the profile, we have reduced the diameter of each strut even further to be adapted to the new flatter foil shape compared to the previous years’ version. This is also the reason why we have used a single inflating valve on each strut and avoided the use of the one pump system to make sure to be able to use an even higher inflating pressure on each strut otherwise impossible on such a narrow diameter design. Higher pressure on each strut means a stiffer strut that in combination with a new flatter profile and new bridle design has allowed to improve the wind window penetration of the kite and further improve the upwind performance. Stability of the profile has also allowed an easier kite to control in your hands, making each kite size less physical, allowing you to concentrate only on the race strategy and have spare body power to use when needed. The leading edge design has also been changed to a more segmented curve composed of more panels, allowing to have a better detailed control of the shape of the leading edge itself in conjunction with the canopy.

All these characteristics created for a pure blooded racing kite, make it also for a fantastic light wind machine for twintips or K-free riders when the wind is marginal and using kites from 19 to 11 sqmts, while the 9 and the 7 can also be used for psycho big air addicted riders. There is no higher jumping kites in our range if you want to beat your record.

THE RRD "RIGID THREAD LINES" With the new launch of the ‘Global Bar V7’, RRD wanted to introduce substantial changes ranging from new and revolutionary ergonomics, favoring more grip in the most radical moves, greater traction control, better security systems to more functionality.

But what we definitely didn’t want and/or need to change are the lines.

In addition to the new systems, the ‘RRD Global Bar V7’ is still equipped with special lines called "RIGID THREAD LINES". These are used exclusively on the RRD bars with great success for over 6 years. A product that’s now widely tested around the world, but there is little known about the details by kiteboarders.

All our lines are produced and developed in Italy, with a worldwide patent granted only to RRD. The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ are the result of the collaboration with an Italian manufacturing company that has more than fifty years of experience in the processing of textile fibers, using the most recent and innovative exotic fibers, combined with an intimate knowledge of the physical and mechanical properties of Dyneema.

WHY ARE THE ‘RIGID THREAD LINES’ DIFFERENT? The differences with our lines is that conventional Dyneema kite line has excellent characteristics of load as well, but suffers from the high temperatures that the horizontal and vertical pull both create, which will make the lifespan of the lines significantly shorter because of wear and tear, while our lines don’t have this problem and have a better resistance to friction. It is also much easier to get knots and/or ‘spaghetti’ in standard kite lines while the ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ are easier to untwist. Last, but not least: the ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ have a great structural memory after tension, so they won’t stretch!

This all derives from its molecular structure as well as the gel spinning process, combined with the production process of the fiber.

During the development of the ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ we have plotted a new path to take full advantage of the properties of this fiber. The result is a product composed of a soul parallel (unidirectional) and tensioned resin, covered with extremely compacted Dyneema braided fibers.

Imagine by comparison the ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ like a widely used electric cable. Core copper wires are covered with a plastic protection sock. In the ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ copper is replaced by unidirectional Dyneema tensioned fibers plus resin, and covered ( the plastic part on the electic cable) with a very thin braided sock with a super fine textured Dyneema.

This allows to create an absolutely direct connection between the bar and the kite, since what connects them is uninterrupted, without having any braided structural fibers , which is a classic solution found on all other lines existing on the market.

The ‘pop-effect’ is drastically increased when you use ‘Rigid Thread Lines’, considerably improving the performance of the kite during wakestyle manoeuvers.

The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ of RRD Kites will never be subject to adjustment , since they won’t even stretch under stress-related moves, for example by extreme loops or other radical manoeuvers, and consequently it is impossible to end up with stretched lines and/or of a different length and therefore the trim of the kite remains unchanged through the years.

The ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ will always be visually, technically and feeling compact and rigid throughout the course of their lives, maintaining all its physical and technical characteristics unaltered over the time.

The standard braided kite line has more stretch, which results in different line lengths, power absorption and reduction of performance, especially at the moment where you change the direction of the kite, where the load of the lines reaches its peaks.

Another weakness of the standard braided line that ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ have turned into a strength are unchanged compactness of the line.

Any new conventional line, has a rigid and compact character because of the resin (generally polyurethane-based) that encompasses it. This resin has a very short life and after only a few sessions, the touch of the product is softer.

This translates into a series of annoying consequences such as: • The softened lines are more subject to unwanted knots.

• The protection of the line is reduced after each session.

• The braid tends to open and it becomes more fragile, allowing the entry of water which will create small salt crystals inside in case you kite in salt water, which can impair the bearing structure of the line.

WHY ARE RRD KITE LINES INNOVATIVE? Unlike standard braided lines, the unidirectional structure of ‘Rigid Thread Lines’ provides a fiber memory that is significantly more efficient . A standard braided line under stress combines all 'dynamic elongation’ of the fiber and flattening of the braid, whereas the core unidirectional structure uses exclusively the elastic modules of the fiber.

KITEBOARDING PADS

RAD PAD Every minimum detail of the new RADPAD and strap system has been completely redesigned to offer the best riding comfort possible.

Built around an HT Nylon skeleton frame moulded inside a DUO –Density EVA core base, it guarantees the right stiffnes and a secure hold and grip.

Equipped with an adjusting system that allows micrometric accuracy in all directions and angles. You are now able to trimm the strap position, angle and size together with the whole pad plate position onto the board, perfectly customizing your stance and foot trimm.

You can trimm not only according to the the length of the foot, but also the height, thickness and generally any particular shape.

The EVA cushioned pad base is made out of 3 different densities: the main pad outline made with mid density, the top one made with lower soft grip EVA density and the third density can vary according to the changeable heel cushioning type you want to use: yellow color for lower density and softer heel support (preferred freestyle choice), and red color for higher density and stronger heel support (preferred Freeride or carving choice).

FAHRENHEIT The Fahrenheit is the latest development available for a super quick drying wetsuit combined with extra durability and stretch. The whole wetsuit is made without any stitches, it’s fully liquid taped on the outside and fabric taped on the inside to offer superior stretch and longer lifetime. Internally, it’s made with an especially engineered quick drying linen that features two layers of fibers on top of each other, woven with a squared pattern design that allows water to flow through it to the oustide and quickly downwards. It’s like pulling water towards the oustide and channeling it downwards so it can dry quickly. We have tested the Fahrenheit in European autumn sunshine, with an air temperature of 20°C, and we got it dry in less than 20 minutes! This special linen also keeps you warmer and longer in the water! Now also available in the hooded version only in 6/4 thick neoprene to be used in real winter waters.
