Welcome… To another season of buying for

WELCOME

your store and another Spry Winter Market Show.

At the time of writing this Welcome note, the Spry Season Preview is taking place and it has been a great opportunity to chat with retailers that were there to do some early buying about how business is generally.

Feedback on the collections at the Preview has been excellent and buyers are very excited about what they can buy for their stores. The show will be 10 times the size of the Preview so prepare to be amazed!

The general sentiment of retailers that visited the Preview was that, while October appears to have been soft, November came back with a vengeance and more than made up for the October softness. It also appears Black Friday sales are becoming more important for retailers but the strategy needs to be well thought out so as to not jeopardize margin on in-season product in this important window of the season otherwise. Buying close-outs and special buys specifically for the Black Friday sale to leverage the “sale” perception seems to be an effective strategy to manage the opportunity effectively and responsibly to preserve overall margins.

Spry - The Treasure Trove Show There are more than 100 brands at the upcoming show that will be showing for the first time at Spry. These are lifestyle apparel and accessory brands, athleisure brands, and even more footwear brands than before. In total there will be almost 500 brands presented at the Winter Market show squeezed into the Embassy Grand like never before! It’ll be a fantastic opportunity to research great new products for your customers for the next Fall/Winter season and to get a ton of buying done for the store in a super-productive and relaxed environment over 4 days.

The show building is completely full. In fact we have found some additional rooms upstairs that some exhibitors will be using. Follow the signs in the lobbies to these additional rooms or see them highlighted on the floor plan in the centre of this Guide.

Due to the Press schedule of this Guide, you can view the more current list of brands in the show on the web-site at www.spryshow.ca And don’t miss the What’s New What’s Hot section toward the back of the Guide; a selection of new products sent to us by some of the exhibitors to help market the show.

Coming in for the Show is also a great opportunity to mingle and to pick up ideas from other progressive, dedicated retailers. It really amazes me the great ideas you can pick up just with a quick chat with a peer over a sandwich in the Buyers Lounge or over a cocktail at the social. We hope and encourage you to spend time at the show.
