Welcoming change SURVIVE 2020 had its fair share of surprises to say the least. The Covid-19 crisis had repercussions for every individual up and down our supply chain. With everything evolving so rapidly in the spring – show cancelations, confinement, total shut down, etc. – the events related to the pandemic affected our suppliers, our transportation logistics, our retailers… Basically, it shook us all to the core. In order to survive, we took desperate measures. Our artisans in Nepal did not lack initiative and imagination, going to extremes and smuggling wool in and out of a locked-down Kathmandu using vegetable delivery trucks as a cover up. Our knitters managed to keep working from home like they always did and delivered the goods on time. Using every contact we have in Nepal, we were able to ship our knitwear despite air space being closed to commercial flights. Back at home, our retailers remained open, owners worked the floor and made the changes required to welcome customers safely.
ADAPT A whole new vocabulary came along in 2020, from curbside pickup to Zoom meetings, live inventory feeds and virtual presentations. Just like our suppliers and our retailers, we’ve had to adapt to our new reality. We’ve decided to simplify things.
2021 will be a year of transition for Lost Horizons and Laundromat as we merge the two brands to become one:
LOST HORIZONS Our products will still be knitted by the same artisans, made according to the same Fair Trade Principles, designed by the same team, and distributed by the same sales force. It only makes sense to regroup under one brand, one catalogue and price list, one unified collection, one simplified system. The changes are numerous so please bear with us as we go through our metamorphosis. There will be some items identified under one brand and some identified under the other this year, a mix resulting from the merger and the reality of inventory management!

THRIVE What’s driving these changes is our motivation to bring you a more convenient way of doing business with us. Through a clickable catalogue and online platforms, we will improve the accessibility of our entire line, add new products in season, and communicate better with our retailers. All this while providing the same quality and care we have for over 25 years now. In 2021, we will thrive. Like most of you, we’re glad to be putting 2020 behind us.
