Visitors numbers are highest from March to October, especially on weekends and holidays with Easter, Memorial Day and Labor Day being the busiest. You can buy your National Park pass in advance online to save time at the entrance stations.

Early morning and late afternoon typically offer fewer crowds, easier parking and cooler temperatures so arrive early or late to avoid the busiest times.

The National Park Service is working on solutions to reduce entrance line wait times, parking lot congestion, and crowding on trails. A timed entry ticket to enter the park is one possible solution which has been trialed in recent years so check the National Parks Service website when planning your visit.

The best times to visit weather wise are April through May and September through October.

Expect hot dry days and mild evening temperatures and an occasional summer thunderstorm.

Visiting in winter is good for offseason hotel rates and milder sunny weather. Occasional winter snowfall adds to the already amazing scenery.

The weather can change quickly in any season so always check for the latest conditions on the National Parks Service website or at the park visitors centre before starting your visit.
