Our Future Water, founded by Robert C. Brears, Author of Urban Water Security (Wiley), The Green Economy and the Water-Energy-Food Nexus (Palgrave Macmillan), Blue and Green Cities: The Role of Blue-Green Infrastructure in Managing Urban Water Resources (Palgrave Macmillan), Natural Resource Management and the Circular Economy (Palgrave Macmillan), and Climate Resilient Water Resources Management (Palgrave Macmillan), series editor of Climate Resilient Societies (Palgrave Macmillan), and Founder of Mitidaption and Mark and Focus, created this initiative to connect current leaders with future leaders. This is Our Future Water’s first global event that brings current leaders and future leaders together to build a water-secure world. The Our Future Water Berlin Event involves an array of interdisciplinary European and international speakers addressing how we can achieve water security. With extensive networking opportunities throughout the day, enhance your knowledge, make new contacts, and be part of the future of water management. Our Future Water has partnered with Connect4Climate, which is a global partnership program launched by the World Bank Group and the Italian Ministry of Environment, together with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, that takes on climate change. Our Future Water is a partner institution of the BERLIN SCIENCE WEEK. The BERLIN SCIENCE WEEK is an international gathering, bringing together people from the world’s most innovative scientific institutions in Berlin. It is dedicated to the dialogue between science and society to inspire a deeper understanding of our world. The BERLIN SCIENCE WEEK fosters interdisciplinary exchange and encourages fellow participants to connect and learn from each other.

Moderator Karin Helmstaedt TV Host and Presenter Karin Helmstaedt is a Canadian-born journalist, moderator, and TV host based in Berlin, Germany. She studied in Toronto, Montreal and Paris, and alongside her studies had an impressive career as a member of Canada’s National Swim Team, participating in World Championships, Commonwealth and Pan American Games. It was from the international sporting arena that she embarked on her journalistic career, covering major sporting events, reporting extensively on doping, and eventually moving into broadcasting. Since 1999 she’s been one of the most constant faces on Germany’s global TV broadcaster Deutsche Welle. She hosted the news magazine “Germany Today,” before taking on the network’s flagship culture and lifestyle magazine “Euromaxx,” which she moderates in English and German. Over the years she has interviewed a broad range of personalities including politicians, CEOs, actors, directors, authors, athletes, chefs and musicians. She now draws on all that experience for her additional post as a live Culture Correspondent for DW News. Fluent in English, French and German, Karin is also a sought-after moderator, facilitator and consultant for conferences and events around Europe.

Christoph Bennerscheidt Managing Director (MD) of EADIPS FGR Since 2016 Christoph is managing director of the European Association for Ductile Iron Pipe Systems (EADIPS). He is member of different Working Groups at CEN, DIN and DVGW.

Max Thabiso Edkins Acting Manager, Connect4Climate Program at World Bank Max is the climate change expert at Connect4Climate. He has been an advisor to South African climate and renewable energy policies and trained local communities in Namibia, Tanzania, and Kenya.

Chrysa Efstratiou Researcher in European Institute of Law, Science and Technology (EILST) Chrysa is a Researcher in EILST and a Research Fellow in THASSOS WATER SOS. Her core focus has been the study and analysis of soft energy applications to address water-related issues.
