RURAL CHURCHES OF NORTH SHROPSHIRE, NORTH POWYS AND SOUTH WREXHAM

Hello…

I’m Rob Kirman, a second-year student studying photography and film at Wrexham University. I also have a part time job working for Morrisons home delivery department which, perhaps surprisingly, gave me the inspiration for this project. Having spent many hours driving around the areas of north Shropshire, north Powys and south Wrexham with work, I have been struck by the number of rural churches that seem to me, to be quite literally in the middle of nowhere. Maybe that’s due to me blindly following a sat-nav and not appreciating my surroundings as I concentrate on the next delivery to be made, but the churches always stand out to me.

When the opportunity arose to select my own subject as part of my degree studies, I quickly decided to photograph the rural churches I had seen in fleeting moments as I drove past them.

I enjoyed the process of taking these exposures, I hope you enjoy looking at them.
