Motorcycle Airbag protection is mandatory for MOTO GP 2018 Mandatory for the Dakar & Rallying 2021 Professional riders are no longer given a choice about wearing Motorcycle Airbag protection; HOW LONG BEFORE YOU CHOOSE TO WEAR ONE? “Now that the technology is available, and it clearly works, I will never go out on my bike again without it” says Woolsey Coulter who has become a big supporter of the advanced protection given by motorcycle airbags. “They offer so much better protection than traditional armour. We encourage everybody to wear them on our ART courses.”

They are mandatory for MOTO GP and Rallying because the FIM want you to go on watching the World’s top racing stars competing as safely as possible. But they care about you as well… get one now!

Airbags dissipate the trauma of a crash very differently to Motorcycle armour, the way they hold and stabilize the neck during an accident is critical to the outcome. The Clinical team leader of the London Ambulance Motorcycle Paramedics said: “they offer far greater protection than standard jacket armour, they protect the thorax and spine from direct impact and support the base of the helmet preventing neck injury by limiting hyper flexion or hyper extension; this greatly reduces the risk of not only minor injury but life threatening injury also”. Airbag protection for motorcyclists is gaining momentum as riders hear testimonials from colleagues: “‘The Airvest didn’t mitigate my injuries, it eliminated them. It saved my life without a doubt. Without it I would have suffered serious damage…or worse. Off to hospital, into trauma. CT scans, checks. Doctor looks a little baffled “you came off at 90mph? I’m pleased to say you haven’t broken anything. You will be sore and bruised, but you’re ok to go.””

The Global Robots Race team has made the transition to building race bikes, not just for their own riders, but now for everyone else! We have called our new venture TJ Performance Ltd and will initially specialise on making race parts for the amazing Aprilia RS660 model which will no doubt take the racing scene by storm in the coming seasons! We have called on all of our experienced suppliers and our own workshops to create a full bodywork system, rears sets, top yoke and clip ons, the latest brand-new Maxton suspension, HEL braking, Dymag wheels plus engine crash pads, silicone hoses etc. Most parts are manufactured exclusively for this model as it is so new. Two generations of the Dunlop family have made their mark on road racing since brothers, Joey and Jim, joined forces with Frank Kennedy and Mervyn Robinson to form the Armoy Armada during the Seventies. Helen Dunlop (now Louden) shared that journey as Joey’s sister and Mervyn’s wife and this month Helen tells RRI’s Gavan Caldwell about the joy and heartache she has experienced over the past five decades.

The eldest of the Dunlop children, Helen was born in 1949 and helped look after her brothers and sisters as they were growing up. “I had to do housework and babysit for my parents when they were not at home.” she recalls.
