The Mastercard National Youth Training Week was established in 1989 Each year Yacht Clubs from around New Zealand are invited to send a four-person youth crew to share in the intensive sailing experience - it’s the perfect stepping stone towards our world-renowned Mastercard Youth Training Programme. Since 1987, the Mastercard Youth Training Programme (YTP) has trained over 1,000 highly competitive athletes Many of whom have succeeded at the highest level of our sport including the America’s Cup, Volvo Ocean Race, World Match Racing events, Offshore Sailing, National Championships, Extreme Sailing Series, GC32 Series, M32 Series, SailGP, Offshore Sailing and National Championships – and of course club racing champions.

The course is structured to help athletes excel in all areas both on and off the water It provides an in-depth focus on advanced aspects of sailing including; racing rules, tactics, sail trim, boat maintenance, fitness,

The Performance Programme was launched in 2016 with the aim to provide a pathway from the Mastercard Youth Training Programme into high-level professional yachting.
