Andy Pooley I ask you to vote for me to represent you on the RMT NEC. Based on my experience as a seafarer, and as a leading Union representative. I have worked at sea for 32 years - first for RFA, then for P&O and a few agencies, and for the last 20 years as a CPO Motorman for Isle of Man Steam Packet Company I am Chair of the RMT Port Committee, and Engine Room rep on the committee. I form part of our negotiating team, along with our Lead Organiser, in negotiations for pay and T&Cs. I have: •

Represented our members in the workplace on-board and ashore against the management.

Upheld the CBA.

Reported back on meetings to members on-board

Recruited, retained, and organised members.

negotiated over all the difficulties that had to be overcome for the new build ship Manxman.

kept our members’ terms and conditions over the years.

saved members’ livelihoods at discipline hearings.

got sick pay arrangements back for some of our members after the company removed them.

got the company to agree to training. I am Chair of my Union branch. I have been a delegate to RMT Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and Maritime BGMs, and submitted resolutions to AGMs and BGMs. One was over employers’ pension schemes, where we were paying reduced N.I. contributions and our employer assured us that it would not have an effect on our state pension. This led to a test case. I have represented RMT at an international seafarers’ convention in Brussels, and in meetings with the Isle of Man Government and flag state the IOM ship registry If you elect me, I will work full time for you on the NEC. I will visit Maritime branch meetings in the Region to report back to you.
