I am standing for the position of RMT Scotland Organiser because our members deserve strong, rooted, and experienced representation across every grade and sector of our movement.
Throughout my working life I’ve been a committed trade unionist and have proudly served as your National Executive Committee Member for Scotland. In that time, I’ve stood shoulder to shoulder with members through disputes, restructures, safety failures and injustices, always with the belief that the strength of our union lies in the solidarity of our members.
In 2022, I was honoured to receive the STUC Frank Maguire Award for Health and Safety, presented by the First Minister. This recognised my work during the Covid-19 pandemic in establishing “safe zones” for ScotRail conductors and examiners, and in securing socially distanced welfare and rest facilities. That award wasn’t about me it was for every frontline worker who refused to be put at risk and stood up for safety in the face of pressure from management and government alike.
As Scotland Organiser, I will bring that same commitment, visibility, and tenacity to every depot and workplace. I believe in organising from the ground up supporting reps, growing our membership, building campaigns, and holding employers to account. That includes direct support for recruitment and retention in our infrastructure and Maritime grades.
Whether it’s protecting jobs, negotiating better conditions, fighting outsourcing or resisting Modernising Maintenance cuts, I will always put members first. I also support greater devolved powers for RMT Scotland within a strong national union, so we can respond quickly and effectively to the political and industrial landscape here in Scotland. This role is not about a title it’s about action. I would be honoured to have your support and your vote.
