SIXTH FORM WEEKLY BULLETIN Friday 27th April 2017

Issue No: 37

Message from Mrs Freeman I hope that everyone has had a good break, even if for many it has been full of revision. I was truly inspired over the holidays watching the BBC1 programme 'Mind over marathon' which showed the preparation of a group of people with mental health issues for the London Marathon. Following my very first bulletin talking about the issues that youngsters face these days, I have decided on 'exercise' as the focus of this term. Exam preparation can be a major slog, so it is key that the girls get outside and move around. On the schedule this term is a lovely Sixth Form walk as well as the inter form step competition. Each form tutor will be logging steps from pedometers and we will see which form has walked the most. The tutors are also going to have a chart of their own...so everyone get outside and get walking for good physical and mental health Key dates Year 13:

Friday 19th May Last Day before study leave begins Saturday 20th May Leavers' Dinner - please remember to return your forms by Friday

Year 12:

Monday 19th June Higher Education Exhibition during the day (letters coming out soon) Monday 19th June 7:00 pm UCAS talk (UCAS process and personal statements) by Fred Binley, from the University of Southampton. This event is for both students and their parents/guardians

Message from Fenella As the first week of the final term concludes, Hind House feels rather quiet whilst the Year 12s are in the midst of their assessments. However, it has been lovely to see everyone again after the long Easter break! There’s no doubt Sixth Form are in for a lot of hard work over the next few months, and the commencement of class revision, tests and “informal” mocks – although momentarily unpleasant – I’m sure will benefit us in the long-run, and help us to achieve those formidable grades! And, with exams being just round the corner, Year 13 is increasingly aware of the fact that we are now facing a series of “lasts” – I cannot tell you how distressed I am over the notion of having my last ever RMS roast. However, I am very much looking forward to Leavers' Day and Year 13 Leavers’ Dinner; an emotional but, I’m sure, thoroughly enjoyable evening, filled with performing, good food, family and friends. A time for culmination is a time for change and, with that being said, our new Year 12 Prefects shall be commencing their roles before you can say “values”. So it is time for us Year 13s to hand over to our successors! I have really enjoyed writing in the Sixth Form Bulletin and on that note, as always, I wish everyone a brilliant weekend
