SIXTH FORM WEEKLY BULLETIN FRIDAY 13TH JANUARY 2017 ISSUE
Message from Mrs Freeman I hope that everyone has had a good break and that you are all well rested for what is bound to be another very busy term. I have had an enjoyable holiday where I took the opportunity to delve back into my geography roots by starting to read 'Prisoners of Geography; Ten maps that tell you everything you need to know about global politics'. I have thoroughly enjoyed having a bit of time to read but can also thoroughly recommend this to any students studying Geography and Politics or who have an interest in these interesting political times. What it highlighted to me was the "interconnectedness" of so many different aspects of the curriculum but also that even at my great age, learning new things and overcoming long held ideas about things is truly exciting and enlightening; watch out all of my pupils for my new knowledge I will be springing on you this term! In order for everyone to widen their horizons further, this term we see the continuation of our ESTEAM lecture series. We have been very fortunate to receive some very highly acclaimed academics and this term is no different with Dr Edina Rosta speaking on Wednesday 18th of January at 4:30. You don't have to be a scientist to enjoy such talks; learning for the sake of learning and opening one's mind to new ideas is a wonderful thing! Have a good term everyone.
Message from Fenella WatkinHale, Hind House PR Welcome back, everyone and a Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful holiday and a lovely Christmas. Having been back at school for 4 days now, it feels as if we’ve never been away. This short week has been all about settling back into things, but I’m sure everything will feel alltoo normal next week when clubs and the usual homework load resumes! On another note, huge congratulations to Year 13 – we’ve all managed to send off our UCAS! It’s a little scary to think we’ve only got 10 weeks, including half term, until Easter, and then it’s just a little longer until study leave, followed by…the dreaded exams!! So, enjoy the term everyone, and have a great 2017! Fenella
