Peer support workers are everyday people who have a lived experience of mental ill health. The heart of peer support work is to walk alongside others on their recovery journey.

Accessingour groups:

Call or text the group contact person for information, and to be added to the group list. That way you’ll be sent any updates about the group, eg. if it is cancelled.

Coffee Group

When: Fridays, 1:30pm - 3:00pm

Where: Six Points Cafe (2/1 Puckle St, Moonee Ponds)

Coffee and chats with peer workers and other peers.

Men’s Group

When: Thursdays, 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Where: Joe’s Eatery (North Melbourne)

Social Saturdays

When: Saturdays, 11:00am - 3:30pm

Where: Various meeting points

A discussion group with a different topic each week; past topics have included ‘Diagnosis and Assessment Experiences’, ‘Mental Health and Medication’, and ‘Languages of Pain’

PeerZone

When: Wednesdays 2:00pm3:30pm

Where: Waratah

‘PeerZone’ offers 1 ½ hour interactive peer-led group workshops. From 52 life challenges, each topic includes activities, a supporters guide, and peer recovery story.

When: Every Saturday, 11am - 4pm

A space for individuals to come together, connect, and share their experiences of mental health and recovery.

Safe Haven is a place where you can feel safe and connect with others. If you are facing difficulties with your mental health, substance use, social isolation, or anything similar in life, we are here for you.

Safe Haven is mainly staffed by peer support workers. Peer support workers have a lived experience of mental health and AOD challenges. They aim to walk alongside you on your journey towards wellness.

Once you have been referred, you can come to Safe Haven any time during our opening hours. You don’t need to book or call ahead, and you can stay for as long as you need to, while we are open.
