leukemia |loo-kēmēə|(Brit. leukaemia) noun a malignant progressive disease in which the bone marrow and other bloodforming organs produce increased numbers of immature or abnormal leukocytes. These suppress the production of normal blood cells, leading to anemia and other symptoms.

Leukemia is not something you plan for. Leukemia is not something that you consider your three-year-old will be diagnosed with on a routine trip to the doctor.
Leukemia is not even something most parents of three-year-olds can spell, much less understand, much less cope with, much less make life changing decisions within hours of the diagnosis.
