Delta Dental and the Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma Club present the 12th Sertoma GRIN IRON CLASSIC The 12th Annual Sertoma GRIN IRON CLASSIC (GIC) is the East-West All-Star High School Football Game for Southwest Missouri. Presented by Delta Dental of Missouri and the Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma Club, the event benefits the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®, fondly known as the “Tooth Truck”. The GIC is organized by the Southwest Missouri Football Coaches Association, hosted by the AllStar Smiles Sertoma Club, and proudly features nearly 90 of the Ozarks’ best varsity football players, all graduated seniors.

In addition to the presenting sponsorship gifts of Delta Dental and HOTO Sertoma, Leadership Sponsors for 2013 are the Greater Springfield Dental Society and O’Reilly Auto Parts. Supporting sponsors are Great Southern Bank and Spring View Dental Care. Our in-kind sponsors that go a long way in making the event possible each year are The Team, McCann Printing, McDonald’s, Price Cutter, Mercy Sports Medicine and Springfield Public Schools. Last, but certainly not least, we thank our media partners: Mediacom, KOLR10 and KOZL. Thanks to GIC supporters like the sponsors, advertisers in this program, fans and participants, the Tooth Truck began treating at risk children on July 8, 2002, one month after the first GIC. Since that time, 37,000 dental appointments have been provided for 14,500 at risk children on our mobile dental clinic. The total value of dental treatment provided exceeds $8.5 million! The Tooth Truck visits local schools, five days each week. Summers are dedicated to summer school kids, the Boys & Girls Clubs, Salvation Army and foster children. This state of the art mobile dental office features two complete operatories and weighs in at 26,000 pounds. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is 43 feet in length, 8-1/2 feet wide, 12 feet 10 inches tall and built to handle extreme weather

conditions. The unit features self-contained water systems and is completely heated and air conditioned to operate in any season. Advances in dental technology are such that any treatment that does not require complete sedation may be performed on the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.

After playing his SR season with me at Ava, he played and graduated from Baker University. He then became a graduate assistant coach and completed his M.Ed. degree from Baker also. He then got signed with the KC Chiefs and was cut in pre-season. The next season he played for the NY Jets, which he just signed a new contract with the Jets to enter his 4th season. He is #46, and being their Long Snapper it has been fun watching and learning.

He was very proud to play in the All Star game and still talks about it.

After receiving the tickets you sent him, I wanted you to know he will not be in attendance. Just a little info on one of your alumni.
