RAVENWOOD SOUTH

Interior Design by

When Kevin’s mother passed away during COVID, the Austins inherited her home. While they had been thinking about moving, this unexpected inheritance created both opportunities and challenges. Already considering a move, they now faced the task of balancing two houses, and perhaps even a third. In the summer of 2024, they turned to their dream team: decorator Ida Irwin and craftsman David Halbrook.

During a season when Jody was working long hours at the health department, Ida and David stepped in to begin working on transforming Kevin’s mother’s house. Kevin and daughter-in-law Mosha joined forces, reviewing design options, selecting nishes, and guiding the vision.

Ida focused on interior design elements such as paint selection, furniture layout, and staging, while David brought his woodworking expertise to built-ins, re nished trim, and custom carpentry. Together, during those intensive summer weeks, they turned the unexpected inheritance into something beautiful and functional.

Today, the Austins enjoy a space that blends legacy and new vision–thanks to that team. As part of the 27th Annual Cup O’Cheer Homes Tour, this reimagined residence o ers guests a warm and inviting look at how craftsmanship, creativity, and heart can turn a house into a new chapter.
