Your new-home team is ready to move on to insulation, drywall and finishes — but not before you’ve checked the proverbial boxes. The pre-drywall orientation or walkthrough — which one Valley builder calls a “dusty-shoe walk” — is an essential step in the journey toward your new home. “Buyers have an opportunity to walk their home with our construction superintendent to review any framing changes as well as electrical, low-voltage and/or plumbing upgrades they have added to the home to confirm the locations are correct,” said Sue Goodrich, vice president of sales and marketing for Cachet Homes. “A buyer might have added can-lights at the time of purchase and provided a location for them, but during the drywall walk they may discover that they aren’t exactly where they had envisioned.
