There are many techniques that can be employed to make a pond more attractive to wildlife for those that want to see more around their property. Conversely, there are ways to limit access to the pond for less desirable wildlife. Much of this is dependent on the client’s goals, the property location and how the final product is designed.

Small ponds — appropriate for goldfish — can be professionally installed for about $5,000. A small pond appropriate for Koi might start around $15,000. Our average Koi pond installation is about $25,000 and we have done a few for over $100,000. Like cars, prices vary widely depending on size and options.

A Koi pond is a lifestyle changer. ool crisp air. Glistening trees graced with colorful leaves. Fireplaces at the ready. Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Well, maybe not that last one. But the first three are definitely descriptive of fall in Northern Arizona, where residents and visitors alike can’t wait to savor the autumnal majesties of Mother Nature. Indeed, two communities in Northern Arizona embody this spirit of cherishing the great outdoors, while at the same time, showcasing some of the area’s man-made accomplishments. Pine Canyon For example, Pine Canyon, a private master-planned community of primarily second-home residences in Flagstaff, offers a variety of single-family home options from cabins and townhomes to home-sites and custom-built homes. Golf and much more A favorite among low-handicappers and daily-duffers alike is Pine Canyon’s private Jay Morrish-designed golf course, which operates on a seasonal basis. The 19-hole course borders the Coconino Forest and boasts spectacular mountain views.
While the weather-dependent golf course is generally open from approximately April through October, the year-round clubhouse is host to a fitness center, spa, dog park, dining venues, a wine room and other activities for members. “We have a concierge service that can help arrange winter activities such as skiing, hiking and snowboarding,” said Deana Keck, executive vice president of community development and sales for Pine Canyon. “We also have an outdoor ice rink that we set up with the first really solid freeze.” Homes and home-sites With 32 home-sites, Coconino Ridge is the newest neighborhood to open at Pine Canyon. The homes range in size from 2,660 to 4,000 square-feet and incorporate a mountain contemporary aesthetic touched off by rustic features blended with accents of steel, wood and stone. The community introduced the first of its luxury guest cabins — called Club Cabins — last fall. A second cabin opened this summer. This collection of luxury cabins offers three distinct living spaces in each: space for prospective residents to use when exploring the property; for guests of members to use while visiting;
and for members to use while they await the completion of their home. Each fully furnished cabin includes two 720-squarefoot end-units and one 2,000-square-foot middle-unit. This fall, Pine Canyon is introducing Mountain Vista condominiums that range in size from 1,967 to 1,989 square-feet. Mountain Vista’s two- and threebedroom condominiums offer a choice of furnishing packages. Ranging from half-acre to acre-plus, home-sites are also available and offer golf course or forest views. In addition, a handful of custom spec homes are available for purchase. Forest Highlands Golf Club Another beautiful private Flagstaff community is Forest Highlands Golf Club, where both of its clubhouses (recently renovated to the tune of nearly $7 million) are located adjacent to the community’s two stunning golf courses: the Canyon Course (designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish) and the Meadow Course (designed by Tom Weiskopf).
