ig farming has been a part of human history for thousands of years.

Today, it remains an important source of high quality protein and

income for millions of families around the world. Modern pig farming blends traditonal wisdom with science and innovation to raise

healthy animals in a humane and efficient way. Pig farming does its best to also remain enviromentally friendly and responsible.

Pigs are very intelligent and social animals. They thrive in clean, safe enviroments with

proper nutrion and care. The idea that pigs live dirty and in mud is actually quite a myth, the only time they are in mud is too cool down their body temperature. Good pig farming is understanding their needs and providing the right conditions for them to grow.

BREEDS AND PURPOSES There are many pig breeds, each with its own unique strengths. Chester White, Landrace,

and Yorkshire are popular for their growth rate and meat quality, but are also quite friendly. Duroc pigs might be the most stubborn, but are known for their hardiness and flavor.

Farmers choose breeds based on what their end goals are, whether its meat production, commercial farming, or breeding purposes.

HOUSING AND ENVIROMENT A clean, dry, adn well-ventilated shelter is essential for success farming practies. Pigs should have enough space to move, rest, and express natural behaviors. Good housing protects them from extreme weather and reduces disease. Many farms now use deep bedding systems or open sided barns to improve the air quality and increase animal comfort.

utrition is the foundation of pig health and growth. A balnaced diet includes energy

sources like corn or grains, protein sources such as soy bean meal, vitamins, and minerals. Clean, fresh water must always be available. Proper feeding at the right stages must be adhered to, such as weaning, gorwer, finisher, and gestation. This ensures strong growth and good meat quality,

Reproduction is another key stage is pig farming. Sows are usually bred between 6-8 months of

age, After a gestation period of about 115 days, which is 3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days. They will give

birth to a litter of piglets ranging from about 1-25 piglets at a time. Good farrowing managment and proper care is essential to both the sow and piglets in the first hours for survival.

No farming comes without its challenges and pig farmers definitley have some of thier own.

Biosecurity is critical to the success of a farm. Vaccination, regulare deworming, and proper

sanitation is mandatory in order to keep the herd healthy. Farmers must also think about other challenges such production costs, market prices, and enviromental impacts.
