Did you know?

• Any RLSS UK member over 18 years-old is eligible to be a Trustee if they meet the application criteria

• Trustees don’t need to part of a Branch, lifesaving club etc., they can come from all backgrounds from private to leisure sector

• Each year we have five Board meetings on a Saturday and expenses are paid to come to our Worcester offices.

• Your employer may support you with time to volunteer for us as part of your career development

• We provide Trustees with training which can expand career opportunities

Welcome to our new Trustees, they have been appointed by our Board of Trustees to support the charity in specific areas of the business that need expertise.

JAMES LLOYD, Trustee

James has a strong background in board level leadership, contract management and business growth. He is currently the Group Finance Director of a national based property development consultancy group. James is also a Non-Executive Director on three NHS Partnership Boards.

James joined to develop commercial activity and to chair the commercial committee.

James said “RLSS UK has some ambitious plans and together I have no doubt we can make these come to fruition to further support the amazing work the charity does.”

SONIA REES, Honorary Treasurer

Sonia brings with her a wealth of skills and experience to support the society as it progresses its growth agenda. A qualified accountant since 1990, Sonia has held senior roles in local government, a large publicly owned company providing external audit services across England and a regional children’s hospice charity. Sonia has also been the Treasurer of a national charity concerned with hospice and end of life care.

Now retired from paid employment, Sonia is passionate about ‘giving something back’. She is looking forward to helping the Society maximise its impact so that everyone has the information and skills needed to keep themselves and others safe whilst enjoying water-based activities.

SALLY SZARKA, Trustee

Sally is a practising solicitor with experience that includes board membership, regulatory compliance, strategic leadership and risk management. She has worked in-house, in private practice and in the charitable sector.

Sally is currently sole general counsel for a charitable museum trust advising on a wide range of matters, maintaining governance policies, ensuring compliance with internal controls and Charity Commission regulations, as well as managing a large historic commercial property portfolio.
