MARKETING PACK

WELCOME TO RLSS UK’S #BEALIFESAVER MARKETING PACK

#BEALIFESAVER

The Royal Life Saving Society UK’s (RLSS UK) #Bealifesaver campaign aims to target and attract a more diverse audience to lifeguarding and help Leisure Centres and RLSS UK Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessors to promote and sell their National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) courses. The focus of the #Bealifesaver campaign targets the type of person who would benefit from the role but may not have even have considered it as an option: people needing flexibility due to studying, dependants or a tenet of their faith, people coming back to the work-place after a break or semi-retired, for example. Target markets: 16 to 18-year olds, 18 to 21-year olds, 18 to 25-year olds, 40+ years old, parents/ guardians of children aged 16+, 60+ years old. This marketing pack has been put together to create a ‘Toolkit’ of marketing support materials, to help encourage the public to become pool lifeguards and to help advertise NPLQ courses.

Around 400 people drown in the UK and Ireland every year and the charity aims to prevent drowning and promote water safety education, through campaigns and its lifesaving programmes. RLSS UK awards and programmes teach a range of lifesaving skills ranging from life support (CPR) to water survival and rescue skills. Programmes include Rookie Lifeguard (for eight to12-year–olds), Survive & Save (for 12 years+) and Save a Babyʼs Life (a free course aimed at parents and carers of young children). The RLSS UK (then the Life Saving Society) was formed in 1891. In 1904, as there was great support for the organisation from the Royal Family, the society was granted permission to use the Royal title and became the Royal Life Saving Society. Drowning Prevention Week is the national campaign run by the Royal Life Saving Society UK to cut down the number of accidental drownings that occur each year and support families affected by drowning.
